Programs: 

Spark Ventures directs human and financial resources to grassroots partner organizations in Chicago, Mexico, Nicaragua and Zambia. We provide strategic guidance and funding to support the following programs:

Chicago: Educational support and activities for 60 children and salary support for adults in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. Recent projects include support for summer camp in a safe, loving & nurturing environment and a new computer lab.

Mexico: Educational support for at-risk youth, capacity building for women entrepreneurs, environmentalism. Recent projects include a small group tutoring program for students who fell behind while schools were closed due to COVID, and creating local partnerships for the women entrepreneurs.

Nicaragua: Educational support for at-risk youth, vocational skills programming for teens & adults, and women entrepreneurs. Recent projects include microloan investments, literacy classes for mothers, materials & supplies for vocational program graduates. 

Zambia: Education, healthcare, and nutrition for 450 children and jobs for more than 30 adults. Recent projects include a vegetable farm that was launched to provide food and revenue to invest in the school, a computer lab & chromebooks for the teachers, clinic improvements, and a new library.

To provide high quality international cultural, educational and sports exchange experiences to individuals from the US and around world.

Programs: 

U.S. High School/Homestay Exchange Program

Students ages 15 to 18½ spend one semester or one academic year in the U.S. living with a volunteer host family, attending high school, and participating in extracurricular and community activities.    

Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Program (YES Program)

Students ages 15 to 18½ from more than 35 countries with significant Muslim populations spend one academic year or one semester living with an American host family while attending high school.  The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.  Students receive scholarships to participate in the program, which includes enhancement activities to develop their leadership potential. 

Future Leaders Exchange Program (FLEX Program)

The Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) Program provides scholarships for high school students ages 15 to 18½ from Europe and Eurasia to spend an academic year in the United States, living with a family and attending an American high school.

National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) Program: Chinese, Russian, and Turkish

The ACES NSLI-Y Program gives students the opportunity to increase their Turkish or Chinese language skills through language classes and experiential learning.  Students live with host families, attend language classes, and participate in cultural activities and volunteer work.  This program is funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Youth Ambassador Exchange (YAE Program)

The YAE program brings groups of students (ages 11-17) to the U.S. for 4-week sessions.  The first three weeks students participate in classroom, school and community activities while living with an American host family. The fourth week of the program students spend visiting sites of interest in the U.S.

Family Benefit Program

This Voucher-based program strives to help low-income people living with dogs and cars in Northeast Ohio access affordable veterinary care for their dogs and cats.

Pet Care Resource Program

The goal of this program is to provide information about living healthy with or near pets, as well as providing a list of organizations that help pets in need of care in Northeast Ohio. Anyone caring for a pet can benefit.

Forging Partnerships

This program is to work in partnership with an increasing number of veterinary clinics across Northeast Ohio, and other pet care providers, to help increase access to veterinary care for low-income households living with dogs and cats.
