Tergar Meditation Community of Madison

Overview
Headquarters:
Madison, WI, USA
Size:
11-50 employees
Founded:
2011
About Us
Mission:

Tergar Meditation Community supports individuals, practice groups, and meditation communities around the world in learning to live with awareness, compassion, and wisdom. Grounded in the Tibetan Buddhist lineage of our guiding teacher, Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, our online and in-person programs are accessible to people of all cultures and faiths, and support a lifelong path toward the application of these principles in everyday life.

Programs:

The Tergar Meditation Community offers a wealth of opportunities to learn and practice meditation, to follow a path of Buddhist practice, and to study the core teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. Tergar’s unique approach focuses on the importance of integrating meditation and spiritual study with one’s immediate life circumstances.

There are three main programs in our community. The Joy of Living is a path of meditation that can be followed by anyone, regardless of religious or cultural orientation. The Path of Liberation is an extension of the Joy of Living and provides a path of meditation practice for those who feel inspired to follow the Buddhist path. Our Exploring Buddhism program offers a course of study based on the core teachings of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

Joy of Living

The Tergar journey begins with the Joy of Living, a three stage path of meditation training through which we learn how to calm the mind, open the heart, and develop wisdom. Though rooted in the spiritual tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, the meditation practices that are taught in the Joy of Living work with basic functions of the heart and mind, such mindful awareness and loving-kindness and compassion. These teachings can be practiced by people of all faiths and belief systems.

Path of Liberation

The Path of Liberation is an experiential path of meditation practice for those who feel inspired to follow the Buddhist teachings of Tibet as their primary spiritual path. Building on the foundational teachings of the Joy of Living, this path presents a series of meditation techniques designed to strip away the causes of suffering and uncover the radiant awareness that underlies all experience.

Why Work For Us?:

We envision a world in which people of all cultures and faiths realize their potential to flourish as individuals and live in harmony with others.

Tergar International is a small, multidisciplinary team of committed and professional individuals who are passionate about making an impact through meditation and Mingyur Rinpoche’s teachings.

We are looking for like-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds to join our journey.

Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board

Overview
Headquarters:
Wenatchee, WA, USA
About Us
Areas of Focus:
Mission:

To restore viable and sustainable populations of salmon, steelhead and other at-risk species through collaborative, economically sensitive efforts, combined resources, and wise resource management of the Upper Columbia region.

Programs:

The Upper Columbia Salmon Recovery Board (UCSRB) is a publicly-funded, nonprofit corporation, formed by statute (RCW 77.85.090), to serve as one of seven regional salmon recovery organizations in the state. Our primary responsibility is to coordinate and implement the Upper Columbia Spring Chinook Salmon and Steelhead Recovery Plan. The region is a 10,000 square mile area from the base of Chief Joseph dam to the confluence of the Yakima and Columbia rivers. UCSRB board members consist of representatives from Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties; the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation; and the Yakama Nation.  The mission of the UCSRB is to restore viable and sustainable populations of salmon, steelhead and other at-risk species through collaborative, economically sensitive efforts, combined resources, and wise resource management of the Upper Columbia River region.  The UCSRB approaches salmon recovery efforts in a transparent and evolving process to restore fish populations for ecosystems and people while enhancing the economic viability of the region.

One of the primary goals of the UCSRB is to promote integration of recovery efforts for salmonids through all sectors and life stages.  The Upper Columbia Salmon and Recovery Plan established that recovery in the region is not feasible unless recovery efforts are ultimately coordinated through all sectors affecting salmonid survival: harvest, habitat, hatchery, and hydropower (the 4 “Hs”).  The UCSRB staff executes the organization’s mission through day-to-day operations and through  science, forest health, recovery plan implementation, watershed and outreach programs.  The Executive Director is responsible for successful execution of the organization’s mission through staff development and engaging the five-member board of directors in policy and fiscal matters.
