Headquarters:
Los Angeles, CA
Annual Budget :
$5-10M
Size:
51-200 employees
About Us
Mission:

LA Law Library proactively supports people's needs in a dynamic global environment, acting as the curator and cultivator of a superior collection of legal resources, a gateway to legal information and a navigator facilitating access to the legal system.

Programs:

As the second largest public law library in the United States, LA Law Library meets the needs of the public, self-represented litigants and the legal community in a dynamic, ever-evolving global environment where information is shared, updated and accessed 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

THE LA LAW LIBRARY IS:

  • A curator and cultivator of a superior collection of one million volume equivalents. This collection includes Federal and State materials, a comprehensive California collection and one of the nation's largest foreign and international law collections.
  • A gateway to legal information and resources. LA Law Library serves a primary connection between the courts, legal service providers, and the public, and the most current legal information (accessible online and print) coupled with extensive historical information.
  • A navigator of the courts and legal system. LA Law Library serves as an integral partner with the Los Angeles County Superior Court and other courthouses and administrators throughout the county and state, thereby giving the public and self-represented litigants unique direction on how to address their legal concerns.

With a newly renovated Main Library in Downtown Los Angeles, located steps from the Stanley Mosk Courthouse, self-service digital research stations recently introduced in the Norwalk and Pomona county courthouses, and expanding relationships with legal aid foundations, pro bono organizations, bar associations and public libraries, LA Law Library is becoming a robust community education center for the residents of Los Angeles County, the state of California and the world.

We value the dignity of work and workers. And at our core is every worker’s right to solve issues through collective action and to form unions.

Programs:

Our professional staff of more than 250 work in 60-plus countries with more than 900 partners including 500 trade unions, worker associations and community groups to provide a wide range of education, training, research, legal support and other resources to help build strong and effective trade unions and more just and equitable societies. Our programs focus on human and worker rights awareness, union skills, occupational safety and health, economic literacy, human trafficking, women’s empowerment and bolstering workers in an increasingly informal economy. Solidarity Center programs support and contribute to the global movement for labor rights.

Why Work For Us?:

The Solidarity Center is dedicated to promoting and protecting worker rights worldwide. Our staff reflects that dedication every day.
