Association of American Law Schools

Overview
Headquarters:
Washington D.C., DC, USA
Founded:
1900
About Us
Areas of Focus:
Mission:

Founded in 1900, the mission of AALS is to uphold and advance excellence in legal education. In support of this mission, AALS promotes the core values of excellence in teaching and scholarship, academic freedom, and diversity, including diversity of backgrounds and viewpoints, while seeking to improve the legal profession, to foster justice, and to serve its many communities–local, national and international.

Programs:

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of 176 member and 19 fee-paid law schools. Its members enroll most of the nation’s law students and produce the majority of the country’s lawyers and judges, as well as many of its lawmakers.

AALS has the dual responsibility of serving law schools and their deans as their institutional membership organization, and individual law school faculty and administrators as their learned society. AALS provides extensive professional development opportunities including the AALS Annual Meeting, the centerpiece of yearly association activities which draws thousands of professors, deans, and administrators. Faculty and deans engage throughout the year via more than 100 sections that present programs, provide mentoring for new faculty, and serve as a resource for discussions on important legal issues from antitrust, dispute resolution, and taxation to civil rights, criminal justice, and international law. Each year, the association also hosts a clinical conference, faculty appointment services, and a workshop for new law teachers. In May 2021, AALS hosted the Conference on Rebuilding Democracy and the Rule of Law with the American Bar Association and Law School Admission Council as co-hosts. The conference brought legal scholars together with current and former high-level government officials to analyze the health of our democracy, discuss who is responsible for protecting it, and consider reforms related to the presidency, the electoral process, race and voting rights, and presidential elections.

Dress for Success Worldwide

Overview
Headquarters:
New York, New York, USA
Size:
11-50 employees
Founded:
1997
About Us
Mission:

Dress for Success Worldwide is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and the development tools to help them thrive in work and in life. Through our global network of 144 independent affiliates across 22 countries, we have served over 1.2 million women to date.

Programs:

Dress for Success was founded in 1997 to serve unemployed women in New York City as they prepared for job interviews and employment by providing them with donated gently used professional clothing. Dress for Success quickly recognized the need to provide services beyond the flagship suiting program via career coaching and job retention to help its clients make true progress toward financial independence. For women who secured employment, additional support and networking was available via the retention programming and various alumni networks.
Over the next two decades, programming expanded to encompass career advancement, leadership, financial education, scholarships, and more, mostly through cohort models, almost exclusively in-person. The pandemic created an opportunity to prioritize creation of online programming. Today, programming is offered both in-person and digitally, at the affiliate level and through an online community centrally administered and managed by Dress for Success Worldwide. Throughout its history, the organization was – and remains – reliant upon volunteers to deliver its programs.
Today, Dress for Success Worldwide (Worldwide) is the managing organization for the Dress for Success brand and global affiliate network. Our annual operating budget is $8MM with an additional $6-12MM secured annually in in-kind products and services. Worldwide’s current structure includes an administrative/headquarters function in New York City and hub locations in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City that provide direct services and programming to women within their local communities.

Why Work For Us?:

Dress for Success provides a unique and rewarding environment in which to work. Committed to helping disadvantaged women in their respective communities, our staff is united in an effort to end poverty around the globe. Joining Dress for Success offers you the opportunity to join a global network of people working to achieve our shared mission and to support women as they strive to realize their full potential.

Size:
1-10 employees
Founded:
2017
About Us
Mission:

The Open Apparel Registry exists to improve human rights and environmental conditions in and around factories and facilities by opening up supply chain data as a free, public good. Why Work For Us?:

Brought to you by the team behind the Open Apparel Registry (OAR), Open Supply Hub (OS Hub) will make global supply chain data accessible to all. Launching in late 2022, it will be an accessible, collaborative, supply chain mapping platform, used and populated by stakeholders across sectors and supply chains. It will provide:

  • Reliable data: all data contributed to the platform is cleaned and deduplicated by a matching algorithm, and then assigned an industry-standard ID.

  • One common registry: cross-sector supply chain data is collected in a single place, accessible to all.

  • Global collaboration: the user-generated dataset gives visibility into which organizations are connected to which facilities, accelerating collaboration.
