Overview
Headquarters:
New York, NY, USA
About Us
Mission:

We believe that the solutions to the national, regional, and global challenges we face demand the free exchange of ideas and thought, and that everyone should have a voice in shaping the policies that affect them.

We therefore work to build vibrant and inclusive societies, grounded in respect for human rights and the rule of law, whose governments are accountable and open to the participation of all people.

We do this by supporting a diverse array of independent voices and independent organizations around the world—the civil society that provides a creative and dynamic link between the governing and the governed.

We have a special focus on supporting those who face discrimination purely for who they are, such as Europe’s Roma people, and for those who find themselves pushed to the margins of mainstream society—such as drug users, prisoners, or sex workers.

Bayaud Enterprises

Overview
Headquarters:
Denver, Colorado, USA
Annual Budget :
$10-50M
Size:
201-500 employees
Founded:
1969
About Us
Mission:

Bayaud Enterprises (Bayaud) creates hope, opportunity and choice, with work as the means through which people with disabilities and other barriers to employment can more fully participate in the mainstream of life. Through programs, services and advocacy that advance this mission, Bayaud helps low-income, disadvantaged individuals and families access and acquire basic human services and community resources. The ultimate goal is to help participants become economically self-sufficient by expanding their economic opportunities and income potential through employment.

Programs:

Bayaud currently offers the following programs and services. All services target low income individuals with physical and/or emotional disabilities, those who are experiencing or have experienced homelessness, or, have others barriers to employment. Bayaud offers Vocational Evaluation/Assessment, Job Training and Work Adjustment Training programs which served approximately 430 individuals last year. These services help identify the skill level(s) and assess tolerance for work situations and environments, customize an action plan for individuals that may include skill based classes such as computer training, and once trained, provide "real" work site-based opportunities for individuals to work on a temporary basis and receive wages. Within Bayaud's Career Center, individuals may learn basic computer skills, and learn programs such as Microsoft Office and the Internet. Bayaud also offers "job club" services that include assistance with on-line job applications, resume writing and interview skills.  Individuals may work with both volunteer tutors and staff anywhere from a few weeks to six months to become adequately prepared for their job search and/or temporary work adjustment training opportunities.

Bayaud Navigator serves individuals with disabilities and families experiencing homelessness, single moms, and aging adults that are unable to acquire community resources or human services for which they qualify. The program assists participants with significant barriers move towards greater health and self-sufficiency through vocational assessment, individualized employment supports and/or access to long-term financial community benefits. Navigators collaborate with many organizations in providing services, reaching many individuals through TANF, Anschutz Medical Campus, Mile High United Way and Denver Human Services. Navigation Services assisted 525 individuals in 2017 with determining eligibility for community based services and benefits acquisition, including SSDI and SSI, and health care.

As a social enterprise, Bayaud's contracts with SourceAmerica and eleven federal agencies to provide supported employment services and oversight in a variety of settings that include the VA, Army Space Command in Colorado Springs, the EPA, the Denver Mint and NOAA and NIST in Boulder. 125 individuals were employed at these sites last year while receiving competitive wages and benefits, along with support services as needed. Bayaud also offers a weekly "Beyond Bayaud" support group, and "ToastAbility", a bi-weekly Toastmasters Group.

In 2017, Bayaud’s new programs and contract with the City of Denver included the Laundry Truck and Denver Day Works Programs. Combined, they assisted over 500 individuals with daily work opportunities, laundry services, and navigation services. More than 1,100 loads of laundry were washed for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Bayaud's other programs include Secure Document Shredding that shredded over 2000 tons of paper; Housing & Work Connection (HAWC) assisting 13 previously homeless individuals with a documented mental illness to retain permanent housing and navigation services; a new project in conjunction with Del Norte Neighborhood Corporation to provide navigation services to 55 residents including 6 Veterans; and continued partnering on Denver's Road Home and Denver's Road to Work for employment services to help individuals move out of homelessness via employment. In total, Bayaud placed approximately 400 individuals into direct employment opportunities last year.

Why Work For Us?:

Bayaud’s management team and staff understand that an organization cannot improve without evaluating and modifying various approaches and methods for optimal service delivery. In the past several years, Bayaud continues to work to expand and refine evaluation processes to gauge the effectiveness of programs and services. Bayaud is creating definitions for a Theory of Change model and result based outcomes.

Bayaud focuses its efforts on clients, community and organizational change, beyond solely offering particular programs or services. As such, our goals include providing a basis for results oriented plans, activities and reports that demonstrate change along a continuum, and are shown to impact our clients directly, impact the community on a broader level, and provide for fluidity inside the organization.

Within Bayaud, effectiveness is measured by the positive impact on the client, resulting from one or multiple programs or services in which the client has participated, and the client’s own measurement of change in status and movement within a continuum of services. Bayaud’s programs and services work together to promote change beyond a unit of service. Specifically, Bayaud places emphasis on these outcomes: the rate of job retention within a 30, 60, 90 day and post one year time period, livable wages and upward mobility.
