About Us
Areas of Focus:
Mission:

East End House community center uses a holistic approach to promote the well-being, academic achievement, and successful transition to adulthood of children and youth from under-resourced families in Cambridge and surrounding communities. As part of this approach, East End House provides support services to a diverse population, from infants to seniors, to strengthen family and community.

Programs:

Originally established in 1875 to serve under-resourced families, East End House is one of Greater Boston’s earliest social service centers. A Theory of Change blueprint aligns all programming to the long-term goal of youth completing at least two years of post-secondary education or finding gainful employment by age 24. East End House offers a wide variety of programs and services that support families and individuals of every age and ability, improve self-sufficiency, and provide emergency aid. Programs include child care and afterschool programs that provide youth the tools they need for life-long academic and social success, as well as wrap-around services – including parent education classes, a resource and referral program, senior support services, volunteer and community outreach programs, and an Emergency Food Program – that foster a healthy community.

The Urban Justice Center - Sex Workers Project

Overview
Headquarters:
New York, New York
About Us
Mission:

The Urban Justice Center’s unique model supports twelve distinct projects that serve different populations and bring the voices of their clients into broader advocacy efforts. Founded in 2001, the Sex Workers Project (SWP) at the Urban Justice Center is the first and only program in the country to focus on the provision of legal and social services to sex workers, by protecting and promoting the rights of individuals who engage in sex work, regardless of whether they do so by choice, circumstance, or coercion. Our clients are primarily immigrants, current and former sex workers, people profiled as sex workers, and survivors of human trafficking. Many of our clients are Spanish-speaking and members of LGBTQ communities. Using trauma-informed principles and a client-centered approach, SWP offers counseling, case management, and immigration legal services. We work from a human rights, anti-oppression, and harm reduction perspective.
