About Us
Areas of Focus:
Mission:

United Way of Greater New Haven (UWGNH) brings people and organizations together to create solutions to our region’s most pressing challenges in the areas of Education, Income, and Health. We tackle issues that cannot be solved by any one group working alone, building on our long history of partnerships and creative problem solving.

Programs:

Financial Stability:

At United Way of Greater New Haven, we work to create pathways to financial stability so that every person has the opportunity to thrive financially. United Way has several programs and strategies to work toward this goal, including making sure people’s basic needs are met, connecting people to education and job training to prepare them for careers that can support their families, and helping people access financial services and benefits that help them achieve their financial goals. Moving more families onto the path of financial stability creates better futures for them, and a stronger community for all of us.

Health:

Did you know that your zip code is a stronger predictor of your health status than your genetic code? United Way of Greater New Haven tackles the social and environmental factors that create inequities in health outcomes in our community. We focus on serving vulnerable populations, and balance meeting immediate needs with creating long-term solutions. Whether it’s expanding access to healthy food, promoting a “housing first” approach as a health solution for the homeless, or increasing the availability of mental health services for children, United Way and its partners tackle problems that are too big for any one organization to solve alone.

Education:

All children deserve the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Quality education, beginning at birth, gives children that opportunity. Investing in our young people also benefits the entire community by supporting the next generation of community leaders, creating a more skilled workforce, reducing crime, and contributing to better health outcomes.

Why Work For Us?:

Your perspective fuels our mission-driven work at United Way of Greater New Haven. We are committed to inclusion across race, gender, age, religion, identity, and experience.
