School on Wheels, Inc.

Overview
Headquarters:
Los Angeles, CA, USA
Founded:
1993
About Us
Mission:

The mission of School on Wheels is to enhance educational opportunities for children experiencing homelessness from Kindergarten through Twelfth Grade by providing programs and services designed to shrink the gaps in their education and provide them with the highest level of education possible.

Programs:

One-on-One Tutoring: One-on-one tutoring is the cornerstone of our program. School on Wheels is the only organization whose volunteers go to their students—wherever they may be—to tutor them one-on-one for one hour a week. Our goal is to provide one-on-one tutoring services to thousands of children without homes throughout Southern California.

Digital Learning: School on Wheels tutors may now use computers, smartphones, and tablets at their tutoring locations to better address the academic needs of our students (K-12). Combined with traditional in-person tutoring, digital learning engages students, fills in academic gaps in all subjects and teaches critical and key 21st Century technology skills.

Why Work For Us?:

Our core values represent what we believe in, what we stand for, and how we approach everything we do. They determine how we treat each other, our students, volunteers, donors, partners, and the communities we serve. Our values serve as both a description of what we already share and an aspiration for what School on Wheels continues to strive for. We measure our success by how well we live up to them:

Trust - Integrity - Innovation - Flexibility - Passion - Teamwork
