Individual Relationship Manager, Leadership Giving

This position works in the Philanthropic, Donor and Community Services Division (PDCS).  PDCS is the primary vehicle for organizational fundraising and volunteer engagement efforts. The Individual Relationship Manager, Leadership Giving is responsible for planning, organizing and conducting an annual leadership giving campaign (gifts of $1,000 or more) within four leadership giving societies. The Relationship Manager is expected to analyze and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of past Society campaigns to affect improvement going forward; maintain knowledge of community political, social and economic factors that may impact the annual campaign; and participate in the identification, recruitment, orientation and training of all Society volunteers.  This role will also focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with key individuals while having the ultimate goal in mind of increasing Leadership Giving dollars and membership.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide direction and support to society chairs and volunteers, including assisting in setting goals, task identification, motivational ideas, timelines and schedules for area(s) of responsibility, recognition, and reporting
  • Conduct meetings with volunteers to track society progress and project anticipated results while ensuring every effort is made to hit society goals
  • Recruit volunteer cabinets and assist in recruiting Society Chairs
  • Manage and guide volunteer cabinet teams to develop and implement strategies to identify, solicit, and  engage donors and prospects
  • Facilitate and prepare invites, agendas, and other necessary documents for all Leadership Giving cabinet meetings
  • Write scripts, agendas, and timelines for all Society events, in addition to speaking and attending said events
  • Collaborate with Society chairs to create and execute strategies to better engage and recognize the volunteer cabinets through service projects, agency tours, happy hours, etc.
  • Collaborate with events staff and Society Chairs to guide vision for all Leadership Giving events
  • Work with martketing team to create Leadership Giving materials 
  • Work with data manager and Director of Leadership Giving to generate pledge card lists and other reports as appropriate
  • Attends all Leadership Giving events
  • Coordinate with relevant staff to develop and execute campaign solicitation strategies and year-round donor communication plans for Leadership Givers and Prospects
  • Develop categories of donor and prospect portfolios to initiate a giving pipeline strategy  and assist in the creation process of donor portfolios
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, and steward relationships with prospects and deepen United Way’s relationship with current donors
  • Generate leads for new company campaigns and de Tocqueville ($10,000 or more) donors and filter to appropriate staff
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s  degree and minimum of two years relevant work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in fundraising or sales
  • Experience with special events preferred
  • Exceptional relationship-management and customer service skills, responding to volunteers’ needs in a manner that provides added value and generates significant customer satisfaction 
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage client expectations and the scope and scale of projects
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately identify customers’ expressed and unmet needs to help the customer achieve their goals and objectives
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to build processes and metrics to determine how to improve our efforts and where we excel
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to hold self and others accountable for high-quality, timely and effective results
  • Demonstrated ability to hold information confidential with excellent judgment.  Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Attention to detail composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines, often under pressure
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as to take direction as needed
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain high-level and consistent work ethic in all work-related duties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database applications
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusionary practices
  • Team-oriented with a commitment to fostering strong, productive working partnerships with all staff, volunteers, and the overall community
