United Way of Southwest Michigan is a respected leader in our community. Locally, we are the largest, non-governmental funder of health and human services. United Way provides a vehicle for people from all backgrounds to work together to solve big social problems.
Areas of Responsibility:
- The Director will facilitate the overall operation of Be Healthy Berrien using a true collective impact model, working with other stakeholders to reduce obesity in Berrien County.
- The Director will lead the creation and implementation of a strategic plan to improve access to physical activity and healthy foods in worksites, schools and communities using evidence-informed strategies and data-driven decision making.
Educational Background:
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study is required; preference will be given to candidates with Master's Degree.
Skills/Experience:
- The best candidate will have the ability to: manage multiple projects with a high degree of organization and time management; work as both a self-directed individual and a team player; think strategically, problem solve and communicate effectively to both small and large audiences.
- Experience in the public health field, program development and evaluation, project and data collection and management, strategic planning, and group facilitation desired.
- While the Director will be an employee of UWSM, this position reports to a steering committee comprised of 5 different community agencies.
