United Way of San Luis Obispo County is seeking a Director of Resource Development. The primary responsibility of the Director of Resource Development is to increase revenue by securing new and existing donor funds ensuring the advancement of United Way’s mission. In partnership with the CEO, the Director of Resource Development is responsible for all fundraising and development activities, and as such will strategically attend any community groups and/or meetings that will enhance the reputation and visibility of the organization, increase our overall donor base, and assist with implementing new and innovative revenue growth strategies. Staff members also work occasional evenings and/or weekends when we hold special events.

Board Relations
- Work with the CEO to, recruit, train, and support Board members
- Manage Board paperwork/maintain Board files
- Ensure Board members meet their annual giving requirements
Professional Associations and Finance
- Work with the CEO to pursue contacts with local businesses to grow workplace giving program
- Identify prospective donors (individuals, foundations, businesses, etc.), cultivate relationships with new
- donors, maintain relationships with existing donors
- Provide effective leadership in building and maintaining a comprehensive and strategic fundraising program
- that includes gifts, grants, and endowment bequests
- Collaborate with the CEO to develop United Way of San Luis Obispo County’s financial strategy
- Be responsible for management of donor database; provide information and training to all who will have
- contact with that database
- Apply for local and national grant opportunities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-starter with the ability to complete tasks with minimum direct supervision
- Detail oriented and creative
- Ability to work with volunteers, staff, partners and representatives of the community at-large
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills required, including public speaking and presentation

- Proficient in various and appropriate software applications (CRM software, Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook,
- and Adobe Acrobat)
- 3 years of increasingly responsible professional work experience in fundraising and/or business development OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
$45,000-$50,000, DOE. This is a full-time, exempt position. Full-time employees are eligible for paid holidays, paid sick leave and vacation time, medical/dental/vision insurance options, a 403b retirement plan, and other mandated benefits such as workers' compensation and state disability insurance.
