Responsible for the identification, cultivation and expansion of large individual, family and private foundation gifts. Develops and executes strategies for comprehensive donor relationship management and achievement of assigned growth, retention and revenue goals. Also responsible for the management and engagement of United Way’s Tocqueville Society.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop strategies to generate growth in major individual and family giving and Tocqueville Society giving.
- Develop strategy to build a larger major gifts team to enhance future opportunities to secure revenue.
- Manage a portfolio of top individual donor relationships across UWSA’s footprint.
- Recruit and support the volunteer leadership team responsible for solicitation of major gifts. This includes training, committee support and solicitation call attendance.
- Ensure deep, strategic, year-round engaging relationships between donors and prospects within assigned portfolio are cultivated.
- Nurture strong relationships that develop the knowledge and understanding of each donor or prospect’s background. Create personalized, tailored approach for each individual donor.
- Coordinate the cultivation and solicitation of appropriate individual workplace donors with staff assigned to specific organizations.
- Manage Tocqueville Society program components to provide engagement opportunities throughout the year (example – quarterly breakfast or lunch speaker series).
- In partnership with the EVP, President & CEO and volunteer leaders, cultivate donor base to secure planned gifts for United Way’s endowment.
- Represent United Way at selected key events to increase awareness of leadership and planned giving.

Educational Background:
College degree or work experience in related field.
Skills/Experience:
- 8 or more years of professional work experience, with 5 or more years’ previous experience in a fundraising, development, sales or marketing capacity.
- Strong Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Access) and database proficiency required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Office management experience preferred
