The Donor Engagement Director (DED) manages, directs, and cultivates UWSL’s Women United donor network, it’s committee and high-level Executive Council, by stewarding and soliciting individual annual donors to support UWSL and our collective impact initiatives. The DED develops, implements, and refines strategic plans for aggressive growth of new prospects, retention of current members, and upgrades in philanthropic support.  The position will actively strategize and collaborate with the Resource Development team to maximize fundraising goals and opportunities.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide leadership and vision to research, develop, implement, and sustain strategies for securing increased and new annual and multi-year investments from individual donors
  • Develop and implement plans to increase revenue from high wealth individuals, corporations, foundations, and target markets to support the retention and growth of donor networks, particularly Women United
  • Create and maintains top prospect lists by identifying, researching, and qualifying potential donors both within the workplace and otherwise
  • Cultivate and stewards relationships with new prospects and existing donors through personal contact, including visits, phone calls, email, and written correspondence
  • Develop a strategy to involve appropriate senior management and board members, as needed, to cultivate and secure individual investments and other corporate/foundation support
  • Coach and involve qualified groups of volunteers in fundraising efforts and donor network goals
  • Manage the volunteer Council and Committee policy and engagement initiatives and activities
  • Maintains appropriate, professional relationships with constituents for the benefit of UWSL. Is an honest steward of donor gifts and respects their philanthropic intentions. Adheres to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Standards
  • Work closely with Senior Director of Corporate Engagement to ensure collaboration across the department to build prospect pipelines, cultivate and steward current and new corporate partner employees (workplace donors)
  • Work closely with key leadership to maximize philanthropic potential. Engage and collaborate with all departments on strategy for leadership and major giving opportunities
  • Maintains accurate donor records and revenue projections and reports out accordingly to leadership and Board.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent related work experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, cultivate and steward strong relationships with donors and potential donors to build and maintain lifelong partnerships and trust
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies and plans that integrate into the organization’s mission, priorities, and goals
  • Consistently achieves results, even under tough circumstances. Ability to develop a challenging vision of the future and strives to create it through winning new business
  • Ability to relate openly and comfortably with diverse groups of people. Ability to inspire confidence in UW staff, volunteer leadership, current, and prospective donors
  • Ability to develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences (writing, presentation, public speaking, and listening)
  • Ability to resolve conflicts and differences through dialogue and open communication. Rebound and adapts when facing setbacks, adversity or difficult situations
  • Exhibits the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in annual giving, principal and major gift fundraising
  • Experience segmenting and managing donor data
  • Extensive knowledge of the local community highly preferred
  • Team leadership or management experience a plus
  • Knowledge and experience using CRM software - Salesforce preferred but not required
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $71,000 to $80,000 per year
