Our Director of Corporate Development leads our workplace fundraising team; they engage with 300 companies to raise over $5 million dollars to change our community through the work of Trident United Way!  We are looking for a passionate spokesperson with management experience to engage and delight our company partners throughout the Tri-County area.   If you love building a team, public speaking and have experience running fundraising campaigns in the workplace, please consider applying for this key leadership position. 

This position is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build workplace giving, to include both corporate and employee resources, in support of Trident United Way’s mission and Community Impact strategic objectives.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Fundraising and Engagement

  • Create and implement strategies for personal portfolio of companies and prospects to achieve the Annual Campaign Goal approved by the Board of Directors. 
  • Work with the Director of Resource Innovation in identifying and cultivating new donors.
  • Gain support from CEOs, and work with Resource Development volunteers such as the Campaign Cabinet and Employee Campaign Coordinators to implement best practices to increase campaigns.
  • Support volunteer committees in the recruitment, training and development of steering committees and cabinets as necessary to encourage volunteer support in the cultivation and solicitation of donors.

Staff Management

  • Provide overall strategy, supervision, coaching, and support to Development and Campaign Officers.
  • Ensure that the Loaned Executive program is properly resourced and functional.

Strategy and Processes

  • Work with the entire Resource Development Division to develop and implement department-wide best practices for fundraising innovation in the workplace.
  • Create effective and efficient systems to support the Corporate Development department, and create tracking and metrics to demonstrate progress of uniform practices leading to campaign growth.
  • Work with the Vice President of Resource Development, the Director of Community Philanthropy and the Director of Resource Innovation to implement the overarching donor stewardship plan created by the Leadership Programs Manager that includes reporting, recognition, relationship building activities (engagement) and communications for individual donors at all giving levels, both inside and outside the workplace.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with and effectively manage high-level volunteers to engage prospects.
  • Input, track, and monitor donor touchpoints, gifts and accomplishments through CRM database and prepare required reports.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager and Resource Development division to develop fundraising materials and communications including campaign materials.
  • Bring donor thoughts and reactions back to the organization and provide constructive feedback to the Community Impact, Marketing, and Finance departments.
  • Collaborate with CFO and finance department to create best practices in gift processing and financial opportunities for donors to create excellent donor experiences.
  • Support Director of Community Philanthropy with events and leadership strategies, as requested.
  • Function as an integral member of the Resource Development team assisting with planning, solicitation, implementation and evaluation of campaign processes.
  • Participate as a champion, project lead, and/or member of organizational development teams as required.
  • Work outside normal office hours when required to include evenings or weekends and additional hours as needed.
  • Complete Andar training as appropriate when offered
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Experience

  • 5 years of previous fundraising experience, or 7-10 years of related experience (business or sales).
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • United Way Campaigning experience or campaigning knowledge in general required
  • Management experience required

  • Proven track record of soliciting and securing major gifts.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with good general computer skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills with ability to recruit, engage, lead, motivate, train, and manage a diverse team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB

  • This job requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Worker must frequently use typical office equipment (telephone, copier, printer, fax, etc.).
  • Worker sits most of the time.
  • Worker communicates with constituents, clients, and/or partners by phone and in person.
  • Routinely required to walk and regularly travel by car.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $61,000 to $70,000 per year
