Join us as Grant Manager. This is a full-time benefitted position reporting the Chief Development Officer.
Objectives & Expectations:
Secure new and existing funding sources (private and public) to generate revenue for programs/initiatives that focus on the mission and goals of our organization. This position requires researching of grant opportunities, capacity/grant readiness assessment, supporting the CEI team’s project development processes, and writing of high-quality funding applications, proposals and reports. This position will coordinate and lead the activities of the grant writing process from research to reporting for the entire organization.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop, write and edit clear and compelling proposals, contracts, letters of inquiry, etc. to new and existing funding sources on behalf of UWSHR and/or partners in alignment with our organization’s Strategic Plan.
- Compile, write and submit grant applications/proposals and reports in exact accordance with each grant making organization’s prescribed guidelines and criteria.
- Conduct targeted research to identify new federal, state, corporate and foundation sources.
- Develop, cultivate and steward relationships with grant makers, foundation officers and other appropriate contacts locally and nationally.
- Compile data relevant to grant applications progress reports.
- Track annual grant revenue, organize and retain related computer and paper files.
- Monitor grant reporting deadlines and requirements to ensure the organization is in full compliance.
- Implement and maintain the funding calendar/grants matrix.
Qualifications:
- Adhere to exactly all grant guidelines and criteria set forth by grant making organization including report requirements.
- Ability to work within policies, procedures and practices of UWSHR.
- Lead activities for all grant submissions.
- Highly self-motivated and a strong sense of urgency.
- Excellent command of English language with strong written communication skills.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, editing, and fact-checking skills.
- Can work on multiple, concurrent projects and tasks in an orderly and well-paced manner.
- Great attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with volunteers, peers, and supervisor.
- Ability to analyze data and produce required statistical reports.
Key Skill Requirements:
- BA degree required
- 3+ years of demonstrable track record of writing and winning grant awards from foundations, businesses and government.
- Excellent written and oral communications, research and internet skills.
- Solid analytical skills and is well-organized and able to set priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Must be able to navigate grant systems, skillfully and successful write grants and reports.
- Skilled to be time-sensitive, innovative and creative in determining grant opportunities and possess a comprehensive understanding of foundations and government grants.
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, high degree of self-motivation, initiative and work well under pressure.
