Director of Development

United Hospice (United Hospice of Rockland) has an exciting new opening for an experienced Director of Development for our growing non-profit.  We are in search of someone enthusiastic, seasoned and driven to manage our fundraising initiatives. 

A natural leader and experienced manager, you are responsible for managing the fundraising efforts for the organization. You are responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all UHR’s fundraising initiatives, to include the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns.

Areas of Responsibility: 

You take on fundraising initiatives without hesitation and are adept at soliciting current donors and skilled at identifying potential donors for our valiant cause.  The successful candidate will have exceptional written and verbal communication with a keen eye for detail.  You think outside the box, are kind, compassionate, mission-focused and extremely comfortable interfacing within a diverse community.  You thrive in a fast-paced environment, successfully managing many time-sensitive deadlines simultaneously.  

You are responsible for developing an annual Fundraising budget, adept at analyzing budgets and projecting income and expenses for each initiative within the fundraising plan.

You are an experienced grant writer.  You conduct research, develop program descriptions and budgets, write proposals, track progress and submit status reports.

You will directly supervise the development team to include the Development Coordinator (Special Events Coordinator) and Development Associate, to include volunteers at each event.

You will work closely with our Director of Public Relations as we expand our services to Orange County in 2020. 

Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree; A minimum of five (5) years’ experience, with a proven track record of successful development experience.
Skills/Experience: 

You must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, internet, social media and donor database management. Prior experience in fundraising is required. Knowledge of Rockland and Orange County communities is a big plus. Your schedule is flexible with occasional weekend and evening hours.

Health insurance coverage is offered to employees who work 30 hours or more per week by Oxford Health. We offer three plans: Metro Silver, Metro Gold and Freedom Gold.

For professionally degreed and licensed positions, salary and wages are determined by years of full time experience.

Health Insurance coverage is offered by Oxford Health and we offer three plans, Metro Silver, Metro Gold and Freedom Gold. UHR pays a portion of the cost for single, spousal, or family coverage. The percentage of UHR coverage is determined annually by the Board of Directors.

Additional healthcare and dental benefits are offered by AFLAC, at the employee’s cost but as a pre-tax benefit.

A 401k with Fidelity is offered after one year of employment and 1000 hours of work, thereafter, 500 hours must be worked annually to maintain eligibility.

Profit Sharing is offered to 401k eligible employees after one year or 1000 hours of work and subject to a six year vesting schedule. Contributions to and rate of profit sharing are made annually at the discretion of the Board of Directors.
