Basic Responsibilities: • Assists with identifying individual goals. • Assists in developing and monitoring outcomes and adjusts as needed. • Assists individuals we support with inclusion. • Respects the dignity and individuality of each individual and his/her right to confidentiality. • Assists individuals we support with daily needs. • Ensures that the safety, health, hygiene and nutritional needs of the individuals we support are met. • Lifts and transfers individuals we support as needed. • Assists individuals at learning and increasing skills in all areas of independence. This includes, but is not limited to: Self-help skills, independent living skills, accessing community resources and pursuit of leisure activities. If an individualized plan exists, this document serves as guide for these supports. • Supervises and assists individuals with daily activities as needed, including but not limited to transferring, changing, cleaning, dressing and feeding. • Participates in all program activities with participants. • Completes required paperwork as required by program, accurately and within prescribed timelines. • Maintains a positive, enthusiastic and team oriented attitude. • Assists in daily and weekly clean-ups of facilities and activities areas. • Shows and encourages respect for personal property, program equipment, and facilities. • Sets an example for others through cleanliness, punctuality, sharing, good sportsmanship, and other appropriate behaviors. • Fulfills assigned roles in enforcing safety regulations and emergency procedures. • Attends all staff and program meetings. • Supervises and assists individuals with daily activities of living as needed, including transferring, changing, cleaning, dressing, feeding and other misc. activities of daily living. • Follows all ESUCP Policies and Procedures. • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality, manages use of PTO time (if applicable), and follows all policies and procedures regarding time off. • Must demonstrate Easterseals valued behaviors of Accountability, Commitment and Caring as appropriate to position. • Completes required training within prescribed timeframes. • Performs related duties as requested Qualifications: • Minimum of 18 years of age, High School diploma or equivalent appropriately accredited by the appropriate state department of education • One year of college or university which has been accredited by an entity approved by USDOE or CHEA preferred. • Enthusiastic interest in working with children and adults with various disabilities; two years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred. • Ability to work with a diverse group of people while demonstrating respect and consideration for staff and participants. • Ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff members and participants to provide a safe and healthy environment. • Ability to appropriately enforce safety regulations and emergency procedures. • Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to daily program activities. • Has an appreciation and respect for the outdoors. • Exhibits enthusiasm, creativity, and a sense of humor. • Ability to work independently, handle multiple responsibilities and assign priority to activities. • Ability to manage the goals of multiple individuals and families on a timely basis. • Must possess a valid, unrestricted, state-appropriate driver’s license and maintain current vehicle insurance. • Must be able to provide own reliable transportation for use in program.Job Function:
