The United Way of Greater New Bedford (UWGNB) fights for the health, education and financial stability of every person in the nine communities it serves. We are actively involved in our communities, supporting organizations and strategically creating initiatives where gaps exist.  The organization is restructuring its development department to be more strategic, efficient and well positioned.  The corporate sector has a long standing partnership with UWGNB.  Workplace campaigns at corporations, non-profits and public agencies are the backbone of UWGNB’s revenue.

The Director of Corporate Relations plays an important and visible role within UWGNB and the community. Working under the direction Vice President (VP) of Development, the Director of Corporate Relations develops, implements, and refines strategies to increase retention and growth of corporate donor and volunteer base and related financial and in-kind resources in support of UWGNB’s mission. This new position will focus on the annual Workplace Giving Campaign, corporate giving, corporate engagement, and sponsorships, and provide general support to UWGNB’s overall fundraising effort as determined by the VP of Development. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, energetic, results-oriented self-starter and team player with superb written, verbal and presentation skills. Must have ability to build and maintain business and personal relationships.

Specifically, the Director of Corporate Relations will:

  • Manage the annual Workplace Giving Campaign with over 100  local corporations and other entities, including all aspects of planning and implementation
  • Build a pipeline of businesses and entities of all sizes to engage with UWGNB as donors and volunteers
  • Organize collection drives and other volunteer activities with various businesses to benefit UWGNB and increase employee engagement
  • provide training and management of corporate volunteers, including campaign coordinators, loaned executives, and other staff assigned to the Workplace Giving Campaign
  • conduct 75-100 presentations annually to executives, employees and other groups
  • assist in maintaining and updating an accurate donor database
  • maintain a comprehensive gift acceptance, receipting/acknowledgement and transmittal process for all workplace campaigns
  • maintain an effective reporting system to monitor fundraising results, including regular accountability reports to United Way leadership
  • develop fundraising and educational publications and letters including timely gift acknowledgement and recognition, and accountability reporting to donors and constituents.
  • assist with annual fundraising events, including campaign kickoff, special leadership functions, Campaign Celebration, and Clambake with Auction
  • write sponsorship proposals
  • Establish, monitor, and report fundraising goals and revenue to VP of Development
  • Prepare information that will be presented at other meetings, including those for the Board of Directors
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the VP of Development

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university and/or combination of equivalent employment and education experience required. Candidate must have at least five years’ work experience in non-profit fundraising or sales. Knowledge of strategic planning, successful public speaking, and training/facilitation experience required. Experience using donor management or CRM software a plus! Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required. Position requires extensive local travel and occasional evening and weekend appointments.
