Reporting to the President/CEO, the Community Engagement Coordinator will lead volunteer recruitment and engagement efforts, and manage United Way of Gratiot & Isabella Counties signature programs and events, including Stuff the Bus (school supply drive), Golf United, United Way Week, Days of Service, Fill-a-Mayflower, LIVE UNITED Awards & Campaign Celebration, etc.
The position will be full-time (40 hours/week, primarily 9am-5pm, Monday through Friday with additional evenings/weekends as needed).
Areas of Responsibility:
- Plan events, including contacting sponsors and vendors to support the event and soliciting volunteers to help with the event preparation and implementation.
- Create systems, policies and procedures for effective fundraising, recruitment and retention of event participants, partners and sponsors.
- Work with volunteer committees to engage and support input into the event programs.
- Manage all tasks successfully adhering to established timelines.
- Secure and manage event venues, set-up, catering, equipment arrangements (i.e. audio-visual, permits, entertainment, gifts, etc.).
- In concert with development staff, secure sponsorships, recruit event attendees, solicit underwriting and items for in-kind donations for all events.
- Ensure appropriate communication, engagement and acknowledgement with sponsors and donors.
- Solicit, cultivate, train and acknowledge volunteers for all events.
- Track sponsorships sold, tickets purchased and all event expenses.
- Maintain information about event attendees, sponsors, in-kind donors in database.
- Prepare all post-event correspondence including thank you notes to sponsors, attendees, donors, volunteers and committee members.
- Assist with annual campaign coordination, promotion and awareness.
- Develop a deep understanding of United Way’s brand, mission and positioning to ensure that all materials leverage the brand and communicate our message clearly and effectively.
- Collaborate cross departmentally to determine goals, measurable outcomes and content, incorporating “mission moments” and fundraising opportunities.
- Contribute innovative ideas and solutions to all events.
- Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Utilizing Donation Tracker (software), assist with data entry and gift processing.
- Manage day-to-day operations of the Mt. Pleasant office.
