Under the direction of the Physical Therapist and the Site Director, is responsible for providing physical therapy services to patients.

Full-Time position with Benefits; 32 hrs/wk, M&F 12pm-4pm & T,W,TH 9:30am-6pm

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provide physical therapy services to patients as directed by the physical therapy plan of care and supervised by the physical therapist.  Demonstrating proper implementation of established care plans in meeting the physical therapy needs of the patient.
  • Ensure completion of all required documentation of patient care activities; daily notes, and progress/monthly notes with physical therapist providing and modifying the plan of care and goals as needed, documenting when the physical therapist consulted on the patient case.
  • Participate in patient case review conferences and outside surveys as appropriate.
  • Complete billing in a timely manner.
  • Reports to Physical Therapist and Site Manager any patient injuries or adverse reactions during or after treatment.
  • Supervise, as needed, the administration of physical therapy services by physical therapy assistant students as needed.
  • Provide necessary educational services to students, staff, and public as assigned. Participates in educational programming by attending inservices.
  • Maintain proper credentialing and continuing education credits required for licensing.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Educational Background: 
Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant curriculum.
Skills/Experience: 
  • This position is be authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties. 
  • Excellent communications skills with patients, families and team members. Displays an even temperament and maturity in judgement.
  • Participates as a productive member of the Team. Displays flexibility, a willingness to assist others, cooperation, and respect for others.
  • Demonstrates commitment to excellence in service to patients and promotes constructive working relationships.
  • Attends departmental and other meetings as required.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement activities; as directed in the following, but not limited to: Utilization review, Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation, Infection Control, Health and Safety Committee Activities and Chart Reviews and contributes to program development.
  • Works towards budgeted benchmarks, established by the budget for average daily charge (ADC) and visits per day per therapist (VPDPT).
  • Identifies program needs and reports these to the Site Director.

 EDUCATION 

  • Must be duly licensed under applicable State laws to practice as a physical therapy assistant.

 EXPERIENCE   

  • State of CT Certified Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) License is required. This position is appropriate for a new graduate through experienced physical therapy assistant (PTA).
