The Rehabilitation Assistant serves adult clients with brain injuries to further their treatment program by providing classroom instruction and community-based activities. Will instruct clients in the performance of specific activities and help keep them on task during group activities and discussions. This position transports clients to and from program a few days a week as well as to periodic outings in the community.
Direct Services
- Work with individual clients to assist with specific tasks and skills.
- Create curriculum for client specific activities (i.e., cooking, volunteering, etc. that support independence.
- Instruct clients in community based activities focusing on community reintegration.
- Instruct individual clients and small groups in the performance of specific skills.
- Prepare clients for treatment and apply treatment modalities or assist clients with established treatment programs as directed by supervising therapist.
- Assist clients with personal care issues such as toileting and/or feeding.
- Perform additional assignments and services as determined appropriate by the Program Director.
- Provide exceptional customer services, both internally and externally.
- Typical work hours are Monday through Friday with hours scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Licenses/Certifications
- A valid California Driver’s license, proof of liability insurance, and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
- Secure a Class B license within 90 days of hire.
- Possession of a current certificate in Basic First Aid and Adult CPR with AED from an approved provider.
- Position requires fingerprint clearance and background check through the Department of Justice.
- Require a pre-employment physical and DMV Medical Examination for Class B license.
- Position requires random drug testing under federal standards.
- Position requires proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months.
Basic Knowledge of:
- Disabilities and related characteristics of individuals served by the agency.
- Effective interpersonal communication techniques.
- Physical, social and cognitive needs of individuals with functional impairments.
- Basic computer skills using word processing and data management programs.
