The Marketing & Engagement Director leads a staff of three professionals that carry out the fund development, engagement and marketing efforts that support and are consistent with our strategic direction. The Director develops, implements and continuously improves fund development, marketing and communications, and volunteer engagement operational plans and processes.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Leads all fund development strategies and tactics, coordinates moves management process, develops and implements gratitude plan, plans and supports events, executes direct mail tactics, oversees efficacy of donor database in ANDAR and organizes volunteer leadership for fund development.
  • Leads marketing communications, increases the visibility and positive image of the agency. Supervises all aspects of external marketing projects including: advertising, newsletters, collateral, annual reports, website development and maintenance, social network media platforms, direct mail, and publication design and printing. Creates a highly visible community profile through community relations activities.   Leads media relations activities building trusting relationships. 
  • Develops strategic messaging plans. Ensures consistency of all outgoing messages with communications strategies.  Conceptualizes theme of annual fund development presentation, including coordination and script writing of brand video. Represents United Way at public events, including speaking engagements, display exhibits and other public relations activities.  Creates and directs implementation of comprehensive crisis communications plan.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a closely related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • 7 to 10 years progressively responsible marketing and fund development experience. Excellent writing skills are required.
  • Our ideal candidate will have experience in fund development, marketing, staff supervision, transition and managing change, and interacting with the corporate, education, health, human services and workforce development sectors.
  • This person will authentically engage donors and provide world class gratitude and support for fulfilling their aspirations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

We offer a competitive salary and fringe package, including health insurance, a flexible benefits plan and an employer-matched 401K retirement plan. Our offices are located in downtown Lorain, Ohio, an area undergoing a renaissance of arts, entertainment, restaurants and urban living along the historic Black River and the beautiful north coast of Lake Erie.

Salary: $61,000 to $70,000 per year
