The Manager, Corporate Relations will cultivate, manage and grow an assigned portfolio of accounts, with a focus on corporate and employee engagement. This position will also steward and cultivate leadership level individual donors and prospects from within assigned accounts, and will identify new opportunities to raise funds year-round within and beyond those accounts.

This outward facing, results-oriented role will require the candidate to be a high-energy and inspiring leader who enjoys asking people for money and has the demonstrated ability to do so by building strong, mutually beneficial relationships.  The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional professionalism and discretion.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop strategy for each assigned workplace account and establish, in cooperation with management, measurable goals and objectives to meet organization goals.
  • Manage appropriate training/resources, manage timelines, provide direct support, i.e., speaking engagements, event facilitation, etc. for each account. 
  • Manage on-going relationships with key leadership and donors in each of the assigned accounts and identify their philanthropic interests and enhance their knowledge and support of United Way.
  • Accurately forecast, monitor and prepare progress reports on all accounts and individual donor portfolio.
  • Work closely with marketing and donor engagement operations teams to promote and set up appropriate technology tools to ensure results for all accounts are properly submitted and recorded.
  • Provide high level, quality customer service by maintaining a positive and proactive relationship to all assigned workplace campaigns and individuals; maintain thorough communication logs.
  • Cultivate ongoing relationships with account representatives, donors, and prospective donors
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in direct fundraising/development or business to business sales
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of assigned accounts
  • Demonstrated ability to persuade others and to close sales opportunities
  • Proven ability to create, grow and retain strong donor relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including public speaking to large groups of people
  • Team player, excels at working collaboratively – both listening and actively contributing - as well as independently
  • High-energy individual who exhibits a positive outlook who can manage ambiguity and change
  • Ability to multi-task and manage simultaneous tasks at one time
  • Self-motivated, goal oriented, ability to get job done
  • Four-year college degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • Must pass background check and drug-screening. Must possess a valid driver's license

Technical Knowledge and Equipment

  • Knowledge and experience in the following areas is required: the nature and dimensions of philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research and cultivation practices, standard fundraising techniques including face-to-face solicitation, proposal writing, special events, telephone solicitation, and direct mail, and, development office functions including gift processing, prospect and donor histories, and fundraising reporting.
  • Knowledge of developing annual fundraising goal for the whole team and setting individual targets.
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of donor relationship management systems, spreadsheets and database programs.

Environment:

  • The incumbent may have significant travel (50% - 75%) to community meetings, etc.
  • Otherwise, the environment for this position is an open office area that is clean and comfortable. 
  • It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. 
  • The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.

In the course of performing this work, the incumbent:

  • Will spend substantial time standing, sitting, speaking and listening.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
