VISTA member will help assess the needs of disconnected youth being served by the Opportunity Youth Project by researching existing employment, education, and housing resources; cultivate stakeholder relationships, and expand our community asset map to aid all youth-serving programs.
VISTA will assist in the coordination of and recruitment for the Your Money, Your Goals financial coaching cohort. We are rolling this program out in the community using a train-the-trainer model and will engage both traditional service providers and volunteers to deliver it.
The VISTA member will organize community-wide events that emphasize service, including MLK Day of Service, Stuff the Bus school supply drive, and a poverty simulation.
To optimize these efforts, they will develop and grow the UnitedWeVolunteer.org, our VGF grant-funded online volunteer center.
The successful candidate must have strong communication skills, written and verbal, and be comfortable conducting community outreach, which will include engaging stakeholders by phone and in person.
Team culture at UWRC is affable and supportive. Our staff of 12 is often running in different directions over our five-county service area, but we are always willing to come together for “all hands on deck” moments. Our VISTA worker will spend a lot of time cultivating relationships with local partners; they will find the community receptive and practiced at working together.
