The Development Manager, under the direction of the Director of Resource Development, is responsible for researching, prospecting, building a pipeline of potential partners, contacting and securing employee giving campaigns, corporate sponsorships and individual gifts. They also facilitate existing donor engagement, recognition, retention and appreciation. The Development Manager will also participate in UWDC fundraising activities including: employee giving campaigns, county-wide partnership development, and long-range strategic planning for the securing of financial resources. The Development Manager will be responsible for setting and achieving account portfolio goals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accountable for maintaining timely, accurate and up-to-date documentation for all UWDC business
  • Achieve annual revenue goals for account portfolio including specific metrics within UWDC
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan to successfully deploy your time and UWDC resources/volunteer time as related to revenue objectives
  • Maintain accurate and detailed donor and account records in Andar to analyze the effectiveness of the plan against delivering objectives
  • Organize relationship management and donor responsibilities efficiently and effectively
  • Participate as a member of the staff team in regular departmental and inter-departmental activities

Account Management

  • Direct responsibility for building strong, mutually beneficial relationships with key corporate partners and individual donors within an assigned account portfolio
  • Accountable for completing face-to-face meetings weekly with customers and prospects throughout assigned accounts to expand UWDC’s influence within each organization
  • Build relationships across functions/levels within companies including but not limited to executives, midlevel management, foundation, Human Resources, Marketing and Communications
  • Expected to spend a substantial amount of time out of office meeting with corporate partners and individual donors to build on going relationships within accounts
  • Steward relationships with individual Major and Planned gift donor with assigned account portfolio
  • Serve as the year-round point of contact and strategic consultant for assigned portfolio of accounts and relationships
  • Provide the “ideal experience” for the active community investors by promptly handling inquiries, valuing donor gifts regardless of the size, and regularly communicating about UWDC investments and the community impact those investments are making
  • Assist in the training of Ambassadors within assigned accounts
  • Responsible for employee giving kick-offs and events within account portfolio and utilize Loaned Executives & Speakers Bureau volunteers where appropriate
  • Assist & provide support for all resource development special events & programs

New Donor Development

  • Gain market intelligence and develop corresponding strategies that lead to increased market and company penetration and improved forecasting accuracy
  • In collaboration with the Resource Development Team build a pipeline of high priority prospects, conduct background research, contact and coordinate ask and develop written proposals to secure workplace campaign partnerships
  • In conjunction with the Director of Resource Development will create annual account plans and action steps needed to engage accounts on a year-round basis with UWDC and to secure additional financial support for UWDC
  • Working with staff and volunteers, the Director of Resource Development will drive the execution of their plan and manage the action steps and results from these efforts

Volunteer & External Relationship Management

  • Develop, motivate and manage volunteers, including Board members, to assist in generating increased revenue
  • Develop a deeper connection within the community around traditional fundraising activities such as employee giving campaigns and individual leadership giving
  • In collaboration with the Director of Resource Development, maintain a Campaign Ambassador community to inspire a group of Campaign Ambassadors to greater generosity of time, influence, and money. Connect Campaign Ambassadors to the valuable role they play in creating Community Impact through successful employee giving campaigns, year-round communication, increased volunteerism, and advocacy
  • Connect volunteers to the Community Impact work to increase financial support of UWDC through workforce campaigns, individual contributors, and new business opportunities

Cross Functional Team Collaboration

  • Work effectively with other functions at UWDC to be able to provide appropriate support and value to partners
  • Leverage relationships to create additional opportunities with other organizations and individuals
  • Participate in end-of-campaign analysis of giving trends within assigned account portfolio
  • Maintain & update resource development content on UWDC’s website and in the database
  • Assists with other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Undergraduate degree required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated fundraising/sales experience with success in securing new donors and partnerships
  • Proven ability to raise funds working collaboratively with teams of high-level volunteers, board members, committees and C-suite level leaders
  • Effective oral, written and listening communications skills with an ability to relate with a diverse group of individuals and organizations in an effective manner
  • Ability to function strategically with proven, strong ability to execute on a fundraising plan in a timely basis
  • Ability to take initiative and be creative in thinking and solutions generation
  • Organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • High-energy individual who takes initiative with a positive outlook and functions at a high level in a dynamic and changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a portfolio of assigned accounts in a manner that increases annual results
  • Ability to achieve expectations of the position’s key accountabilities in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to listen, adapt and to persuade others to close sales opportunities
  • Confident and self-aware, able to work positively with others
  • Maintains a positive, solutions-focused approach
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools is required
  • Proficiency with ANDAR 360 and/or other fundraising software application strongly preferred
  • Two to five years of experience in nonprofit fundraising account management and/or sales experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, provide proof of insurance, own a mobile phone and be able to travel throughout Denton County as required to fulfill the duties of the position
  • Must pass criminal history background check
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $31,000 to $40,000 per year
