The Director of Community Impact leads United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ impact and engagement efforts. This position is responsible for overseeing the United Way’s Community Impact funding process, as well as developing a unique donor experience by providing engagement opportunities through marketing, advocacy, and volunteering. United Way professionals should exhibit core competencies: mission-focused, relationship-oriented, collaborator, results-driven, and brand-steward.
Areas of Responsibility:
Business Acumen & Strategic Direction
- Participate in community and business environment by serving in civic groups, on committees, and in groups that will advance the mission of United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties.
- Contribute to the growth and development of organizational resources and capacity.
Outward Turning
- Be present and visible in the community and with partners (donors, volunteers, dignitaries, key stakeholders, etc.).
- Develop strategic relationships to benefit the United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties and the community.
- Connect individuals’ areas of interest directly to United Way’s work and inspire commitment and support for United Way.
Embracing & Managing Change
- Research and identify innovative capacity-building initiatives to benefit the Volusia and Flagler communities.
- Evaluate and respond to community needs.
Talent Management & People Development
- Manage and coordinate all efforts of Community Impact, Marketing, and Volunteer Center staff including: assign and monitor all job responsibilities, maintain positive staff relations, conflict resolution, and ensure the organizational resources are used to their maximum potential.
- Build and lead a diverse team that helps support and achieves United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties’ goals.
- Receive and provide feedback in a constructive way.
Operational Planning & Execution
- Lead strategic planning initiatives for Community Impact, Marketing, and Volunteer Center staff.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field OR 5 years of relevant work experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience:
- Team player with the ability to work with UWVFC senior management to achieve organizational goals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and needed with the ability to communicate the key stakeholders, peers, and staff.
- High degree of professional integrity to deal ethically with confidential information.
- Ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Excellent computer skills (minimum of Microsoft software programs).
- Possess a valid driver’s license and have use of insured motor vehicle.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary Range: $40-44,000 Depending on experience
