The Community Impact Analyst provides critical analytic support to the Community Impact (CI) division that is necessary for making strategic decisions regarding programming, funding, and technical assistance needs. Specifically, they will ensure the integrity of data reported by agency partners and United Way staff in several data management systems, including eCImpact, Efforts to Outcomes (ETO), and a proprietary early childhood developmental screening database. The Analyst will obtain and analyze data and produce reports to support CI in monitoring performance of community-facing programs as well as internal operations and to communicate those results to other staff and external stakeholders. The Analyst will also conduct special research projects and present findings as needed.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Reporting

  • Obtain and analyze data to support the CI division in monitoring performance of community-facing programs as well as internal operations
  • Produce reports on CI performance for both internal (senior leadership, CI staff, Development staff, Marketing staff) and external audiences (UW Board, corporate partners, affinity groups, etc.)
  • Support the data collection and analysis aspects of CI grantmaking and management of initiatives
  • Identify trends in data and act as a thought partner in analysis
  • Create and propose interesting ways of sharing data in ways that tell stories, illustrate outcomes, and help audiences understand the implications and next steps
  • Conduct special research projects and present findings as needed

Continuous Improvement

  • Assist the Senior Director, Evaluation in developing measurement systems that allow CI to monitor United Way’s performance in terms of impact on the community
  • Become deeply familiar with CI data structures and mechanisms and identify areas for improvement in data storage and analysis
  • Identify data that is redundant or not useful and develop strategies to eliminate it or improve its utility.
  • Guide CI staff in using data and how to talk about results
  • Provide technical support to others in using United Way’s CI databases, including eCImpact, ETO, and our proprietary early childhood screening database

Data Hygiene and Maintenance

  • Ensure that data is entered correctly into United Way’s CI data management systems by UW and agency staff and support them in developing strategies to improve data quality
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks such as scrubbing old user accounts, backing up reports, and monitoring the accuracy of reported information
  • Other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years of work experience managing and analyzing data
  • Understanding of best practices in data hygiene and database management
  • Ability to obtain data relevant to performance monitoring from United Way databases and other sources
  • Strong computational skills, especially in using Excel, and the ability to learn and use other data management and analysis software
  • Experience performing statistical analysis
  • Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills
  • Experience using PowerPoint and data visualizations to present findings
  • Keen attention to detail and experience producing professional, error-free reports and documents
  • Ability to provide top notch customer service to colleagues internally as well as to our agency partners
  • Ability to manage and support time-sensitive and complex projects and to problem-solve
  • Ability to prioritize, manage, and hold oneself accountable for completing multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Experience teaching, coaching, or training is a plus
  • Familiarity with social science research practices is a plus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $41,000 to $50,000 per year
