Summary:

Easter Seals Massachusetts is seeing a Peer Support and Pre Vocational Skills developer to provide community based support to individuals living in SE MA. This includes training, instruction, and mentoring to individuals with disabilities about self-advocacy, civic participation, leaderships, benefits, teaching life skills such as task completion, problem solving in the community, safety, and social skills training.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Assess participant’s pre-employment needs that arise as a result of his or her functional limitations and abilities.

• Develop an Activity Intervention Plan to develop pre vocational skills.

• Provide peer to peer mentoring in community based settings to individuals with a wide range of disabilities in either small groups or one to one.

• Enhance the skills of individuals to function in the community or family home.

• Travel to community locations to work directly with individuals.

• Document progress towards goals.

Qualifications:

• High School or Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.

• Background in health and human services and interacting with persons with disabilities.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. 

• Able to work flexible hours.

• Able to work independently or in groups with minimal supervision in multiple sites.

• Able to communicate effectively by phone and in person with professionals and clients with various disabilities.
