Community Skills Trainer responsibilities include training, job coaching, planning and participating in community outings. Current specialties offered within day programs include: Culinary Arts, Performing Arts, Retirement Activities, Fine Arts, Work Options and Computer Training.
Basic Responsibilities:Community Skills Trainers assist in the development of realistic goals and objectives for Individual Service Plans (ISP’s), and evaluate progress towards meeting program and individual goals and objectives biannually by contributing ideas.
- Provides assistance with feeding, toileting, hygiene, transferring and communication.
- Follows all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques, transfers, use of wheelchair lifts, and tie-downs.
- Participates in planning the monthly calendar and developing new activity curriculum.
- Trains consumers in the classroom and in community based settings in accordance with ISP’s including development of specific vocational skills and activities.
- Job coach and train consumers in employment settings as needed.
- Performs room maintenance and clean-up duties as required; i.e., dishes, floors, and wheelchairs.
- Provides exceptional customer services both internally and externally.
Hourly position; 25 hours weekly, typically 9:00am-2:00pm Monday through Friday.
Qualifications:- High School diploma, some experience preferred, willing to train.
