As the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley celebrates our Centennial in 2019, we are excited about the continued work that is being done that leads to lives changing for the better for our local community. We are committed to fighting for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community. In 2019, we are seeking to increase our efforts and impact in the area of Financial Empowerment. As an AmeriCorps VISTA, you have the power to make a big impact in the lives of others in our local community. The VISTA selected for our United Way will serve as the Financial Literacy Education Coordinator and will work to increase economic opportunities for low income residents. The Financial Literacy Education Coordinator will focus on three priority areas for our United Way: Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA Program), the Mahoning County Financial Stability Partnership Initiative and Success After 6 Family Engagement for Financial Health. United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley offers an excellent opportunity to work with knowledgeable, dedicated, skilled and passionate professionals. The selected VISTA will learn valuable skills of networking and building partnerships and collaborations. A successful VISTA candidate is flexible, an independent worker, self-motivated, detail-oriented, experience with research and cultural competency. As a result of VISTA’s efforts, YMVUW will increase VITA volunteers to meet the needs of the local community, better connect residents to financial services and programs and provide families with tools and resources to make better financial decisions for their families.
