Annual Fund & Communications Manager
Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry, dedicated to eliminating substandard housing and creating affordable homeownership opportunities. This mission is dedicated to a process of mutual help and respect, involving community volunteers and those with housing needs working in partnership. In this environment, employees may be required to work during nontraditional business hours when needed.
Reports to: Director of Development
Work Hours: Mon - Fri, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (Weekends as needed)
Exemption Status: TBD
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Development (DOD), The Annual Fund & Communications Manager (AFCM) is responsible to grow all facets of the individual giving program (major gifts, monthly giving, online giving, direct mail, and planned giving) with a strong emphasis on donor acquisition and retention through positive and consistent donor engagement. Through the creation and implementation of systematic steps of engagement, the AFCM will work with the DOD to set strategy and then execute fundraising plans for sustaining and growing the number of annual donors, the size of individual donations, and converting annual donors to major donors. In addition, the AFCM will work with the DOD to create an annual communications plan, creating and writing development collateral material and developing a “database of stories” that helps to convey the positive impact of Cape Fear Habitat. The AFCM will support the major giving efforts of the Director of Development, members of the Board of Directors and assist with fundraising events.

Experience and Knowledge and Requirements:
- Committed to the mission of Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity
- 3 - 5 years of related and directly relevant development experience in non-profit organizations
- Advanced knowledge of fund development theories, principles and procedures
- Experience of developing and implementing an individual giving strategy; the ability to do this is essential for the role
- Proven experience in creating and writing collateral materials
- Ability to create and manage a yearly communications plan
- Advanced knowledge of direct mail requirements and best practices
- Knowledge of budgets and experience of reporting financial performance against targets
- Ability to adjust work pace to maximize production without loss of work quality
- Ability to plan and execute special events and work effectively with volunteers
- Adhere to a high standard of ethics and promote the donor bill of rights
- Excellent IT skills, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
- Experience of databases and audience segmentation and use of data analytics
- Meet all deadlines agreed upon by the Director of Development
- Ability to perform physical duties: stand, walk, sit, lift up to 20 pounds
- Required to pass a background
