In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Marketing Manager the Donor Relations Manager will strengthen relationships and the financial sustainability of Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity through the expansion of the donor base guiding the Board and Staff in their to increase financial resources.
The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for special events management, fundraising/development of individual donors, and database management to support the affiliate’s mission to build simple, decent and affordable housing for people in need.
Areas of Responsibility:
Special Events
- Manage Habitat’s 2 signature fundraising events – Fall Festival and Men Can Cook
- Create, plan, implement and oversee additional fundraising events each year to complement the two signature events
- Conduct follow-up activities and analysis for each event
- Create and update event reports, as needed
Community Engagement
- Promote affiliate and its events within the community
- Assist with speaking engagements and press opportunities, as necessary
- Attend community events (YPS, Chamber, Rotary, etc.)
- Be a visible presence, serving on at least one outside committee or Board of Directors
- Provide and post regular updates for website and social media platforms, answering questions as they are posted
- Fundraising/Development/Volunteers/Grants
- Manage donor database, entering donation information and sending timely acknowledgements
- Solicit and steward individual donors at all levels
- Create and implement stewardship plan
- Seek out and maintain partnerships for in-kind donations
- Ensure all donors receive proper recognition (i.e. signage, social media tags, press releases, etc.)
- Forge and maintain corporate partnerships
- Assist with grant writing and coordinating all supporting materials and final reports
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field
Skills/Experience:
- Ideal candidate must meet the following requirements:
- 2 to 4 years nonprofit development experience, fundraising, sales or relevant experience, including event management and donor engagement
- A proven fundraising or sales record
- Stellar verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A self-starter willing to take initiative
- Experience managing a donor database, as well as the ability to use technology to support construction work, MS Office Suite – Word/Excel/Outlook, Internet, etc…
- Familiarity with social media and web page platforms
- Self-motivated, highly organized with exceptional attention to detail, and creative, out-of-the-box thinker
- Comfortable networking and interacting with corporate and individual donors
- Flexible schedule, as needed (night and weekend work sometimes necessary)
- Have a can-do attitude
- A sense of humor
- Reliable transportation required
- Ability to work independently
- Understanding and passion for the mission & vision of Greater Springfield Habitat for Humanity
- Understanding and respectful of the affiliates faith-based roots
