The Senior Accountant coordinates the maintenance of the general ledger including general ledger account reconciliation and prepares financial reports for internal and external financial statement users including required reporting for grant programs. This position reports to the Senior Director of Finance.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Prepare reconciliation of bank, investment and endowment accounts
- Perform procedures related to stock donations
- Reconcile financial information between accounting system and pledge processing database
- Prepare all standard, general and adjusting journal entries
- Prepare schedules to support grants, programs and other donor related activity
- Prepare payroll JE and payroll transfer for review by the Senior Director of Finance
- Maintain and ensure completeness of Monthly Closing check list
- Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements
- Reconcile and maintain schedules for various balance sheet accounts
- Assist the Senior Director of Finance in the preparation, coordination, and conduct of the annual financial audit
- Maintain compliance with accounting standards, government regulations, and tax laws
- Assist with resolving donor account issues and maintains professional interaction with customers, vendors, volunteers, and staff
- Assist with budget as well as other high-priority projects within the department
- Attend organizational, departmental and committee meetings as directed

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Finance
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or equivalent preferred;
