Reporting directly tothe Director, Human Resources, HR Generalist of is responsible for providing a broad rangeof Human Resources support services. These services include but are not limitedto; recruitment, employee relations, compensation, career planning, employeeand management counseling on Human Resource issues, and the investigation andresolution of Human Resource related problems. The HR Generalist is expected to maintain confidentiality of allemployee issues to the extent allowed under applicable law and ethicalstandards established for Human Resource professionals.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Works directly with the hiring managers and the Director, Human Resources to develop and implement cost effective recruitment and retention strategies, both general and job specific, to ensure Easterseals attracts and retains a highly qualified and dedicated work force in all areas.  Identify the media that produces the best results and develop advertising strategies to capture the widest audience for dollars expended.  As required, work with various agencies, permanent and temporary placement, to fill immediate vacancies that could jeopardize care or impact revenue.  Administers Easterseals employment, placement and transfer programs in compliance with needs within the recruitment budget.  Adheres to all Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action laws and guidelines.  Responds to employment inquiries, screens applications in conjunction with hiring manager, conducts reference checks, interviews qualified applicants, makes job offers, assigns hire rate, completes all paperwork, enters information in HRIS and writes rejection letters when applicable.  
  • Performs a variety of other duties that include but are not limited to; coordinating the General Orientation program for all new employees, conducting exit interviews for terminating employees and evaluates interview information, identifying retention and employee relations problems, evaluates Easterseals compliance with personnel policies and procedures, ensures that sexual harassment training, labor posting(s), etc.
  • Ensures employee probationary and annual performance reviews are completed in a timely manner. 
  • Manage on-line education system. 
  • Assists the Director, Human Resources with special projects
  • As directed by the Director, Human Resources, advises and assists management staff in the application and interpretation of employee relations policies, legal compliance, discipline problems, manpower planning, transfers and termination’s.  Acts in the capacity of a coach/mentor to assist management in dealing with employee/labor relation’s issues.  
  • Investigates employee complaints/suggestions and takes appropriate action to resolve issues and improve processes.  Assists supervisory personnel in adequate administration of the disciplinary code
  • Assists in the completion of all government filings and audit requirements in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.  Assists in the preparation of reports for internal use and other documents according to state and federal compliance requirements.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, professional organizations, in-service meetings and workshops.  Participates in committee meetings.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as designated by manager.

Educational Background: 
Associate Degree in related field required. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office and HRIS software.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage priorities, meet deadlines and plan effectively.
  • Communicate tactfully and professionally with internal staff, job applicants, government agencies and other external contacts and organizations.
  • Manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Detail oriented
  • Retains privileged information in confidence.
  • Has access to confidential payroll and personnel information and has contacts with all levels of management as well as outside the organization.
  • Must be flexible to interview at all Easterseals locations
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • This position may be authorized to have access to protected Health Information (PHI) to perform specific job duties. 
  • A minimum of one year experience performing as a Human Resource Generalist with an emphasis on recruitment.
