Warren County Habitat for Humanity (WCHFH) is looking a Community Outreach Director, which is a new, grant-funded position for our affiliate. The purpose of this role is to develop partnerships with community stakeholders and residents to bolster WCHFH’s affordable housing and homeownership efforts, increase advocacy efforts, and service our community through programming offered by WCHFH and its partners. By solving the problems of poverty housing together with these partners, we will build awareness and accelerate community empowerment. The person in this role will also need to develop and deploy program strategies, events and activities that attract potential partners and sponsors to support increased building capacity. The focus will be on cultivating and maintaining partnerships that focus on youth, seniors, low-income families and veterans with intent to improve the quality of life in Warren County.
Development
- Develop and implement a strategy for building and strengthening community partnerships.
- Support grant writing efforts, particularly by leveraging partnerships that can provide complementary services.
- Partnerships and Collaboration
- Identify and cultivate relationships with individuals at key non-profit, for-profit and government agencies to garner support for our programs. Promote awareness of the WCHFH programs and advocacy efforts through community presentations, PR channel opportunities, and social networking.
- Participate in community-based planning initiatives that align with WCHFH strategic organizational objectives.
- Build larger network of community partnerships in order to:
- Increase number of applications for homeownership, critical home repair and home preservation programs,
- Create awareness of fundraising opportunities including house sponsorships and team building days, and
- Further cultivate a larger volunteer base with targeted skills that support the growing needs of the affiliate.
Programming and Operations
- Create and maintain a database of organizations, donors and partners within the WCHCH service area.
- Participate with other Habitat affiliates to share ideas and enhance evaluation, community and program development efforts.
- Provide support by maintaining correspondence with other committees or agencies, and by interfacing with community groups and actively promoting joint participation.
- Develop events and programs at the WCHFH Community Center that promote our Community Outreach program development, and its affordable housing advocacy strategies.
- Project management experience strongly preferred.
- 3 years of supervisory experience required.
- Demonstrated strength in developing partnerships with community leaders and representatives.
- High standards for program planning and implementation.
- Excellent outreach, engagement, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with HFHI and WCHFH mission, goals and expectations.
- Personal commitment for youth and community services.
- Experience having worked with a high-performance, collaborative, constructive peer group.
- Strength in managing, developing, coaching, and retaining individuals and teams.
- Strong desire to actively participate in conferences, workshops, and other networking opportunities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details.
- Evening and some weekend hours are required.
