The New Business Development team seeks applicants for the position of Temporary Senior Proposal Writer to help direct PSI’s fundraising activities worldwide with foundations, bilateral and multilateral donors. PSI’s NBD Department offers assistance to field-based programs when responding to the US government, DFID, KFW, Global Fund, corporate, foundation, and other donor requests for proposals. NBD also provides additional fundraising support to PSI country platforms facing funding shortfalls and increasingly will support fundraising for new health areas. The Department also builds the capacity of PSI country platforms to prepare proposals. The Temporary Senior Proposal Writer can be based remotely, with approximately 50% overseas travel, and report to the Director, New Business Development.
- The Temporary Senior Proposal Writer is a demanding, challenging and exciting role, requiring a dynamic individual with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, excellent writing skills, a sharp focus on details and demonstrated experience leading teams in complex processes. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Serving as lead writer on strategically important bids, including facilitating strategy discussions, drafting the narrative (including executive summary, technical approach, staffing and management, monitoring and evaluation, organizational capabilities, etc.) and incorporating reviewer feedback
- Coordinating efforts between PSI and partner organizations on specific proposals
- 5+ years of demonstrated NBD experience within the international development sector (international health preferred) with a variety of donors including US government and various bilateral international donors.
- Demonstrated successful experience contributing to writing various sections of proposals including executive summaries, technical approach, and institutional capabilities.
- Advanced understanding of proposal compliance parameters within the international development sector for priority donors such as USAID, DFID, and others.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills including strong English grammar, proofreading and editing skills.
- Ability to convert technical knowledge into easily understood terms and compelling writing.
- Excellent diplomatic, negotiating and interpersonal communication capability.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Self-starter, able to achieve results with limited supervision.
