The Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ARSH) Fellow will support our new ASRH in Emergencies Advisor with mapping out Save the Children and the Interagency Working Group on Reproductive Health in Emergencies (IAWG) ASRH programs, updating the existing ASRH in Emergencies toolkit and testing it in a field program, and participating in a regional ASRH training for program staff. This position will involve some deskwork with our HQ team as well as some international travel.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support the ASRH in Emergencies Advisor in mapping Save the Children emergency responses with ASRH programs
- Map out ASRH programs in emergency responses led by other IAWG partner organizations
- Engage in coordination activities for the inter-agency ASRH sub-working group (setting up global calls with partners, tracking progress on workplan and agendas, etc.)
- Work with ASRH Advisor to update the ASRH in Emergencies Curriculum and Toolkit
- Conduct 1 or 2 field program visits to test relevance of ASRH tools and curriculum
- Participate in regional ASRH trainings and be the point person to ensure meaningful youth participation in training event
- Support on content development for Save the Children’s ASRH Global Meeting
Educational Background:
Current MPH Candidate, recent graduate or equivalent
Skills/Experience:
- Coursework and/or experience in program planning, research design, data collection, data analysis
- Coursework and/or experience in data entry and analysis software (STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc.)
- Prior experience working in an international development settings and a desire to work in and experience humanitarian settings is preferred.
- Prior experience with training, tool development and research writing
- Prior experience conducting research in a field setting
- Fluent in English with strong verbal and writing skills is required. Proficiency in French is desired.
- Independent problem-solver and decision-maker.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; detail oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
- To be classified as a fellow: an individual must be enrolled in a relevant graduate or post-graduate academic program and able to receive some form of credit from his/her college or institution. (Minimum requirement is a letter of support and documentation is required only after a fellowship is offered.)
