Plans, executes, and finalizes projects and cross-cutting initiatives within the Infectious Diseases/Health Systems according to deadlines and within approved budgets. Manages resources (talent, financial and other) to deliver projects according to approved plans. Manages and defines the project’s objectives and oversees quality control throughout the completion of the project(s)/initiative(s) life cycle(s). Creates work plans based on goals and targets and implements evidence-based interventions in a one or more multi-sector areas, as well as new technologies and practices. Collaborates with one or more technical areas (product lines/service areas) to integrate work plans, budgets and interventions, which are essential for the success and sustainability of the project(s). Serves as a senior member of the management team for Infectious Diseases/Health Systems.
The project manager will lead special projects and initiatives that are not housed within one of the component programs (i.e., Health Systems Innovation, Infectious Diseases/HIV, Infectious Diseases/TB, Infectious Diseases/Neglected Tropical Diseases, and Strategic Information/Monitoring and Evaluation). The cross-cutting projects will include management of Program and Technical Quality Assessment (PTQA); efforts to support mentorship of in-country technical staff and development and delivery of webinars; fostering thought leadership across the technical domains in Infectious Diseases/Health Systems; and expansion to other therapeutic areas (e.g., non-communicable diseases, sexually transmitted infections, and others) as an incubator with the potential to develop into a full product line/service area.
- Manages and oversees the development of projects and/or initiatives from initiation to completion, including budget development and oversight.
- Manages capacity building for staff in coordinating and managing the implementation of project activities, delivering quality and accountability.
- Coaches and mentors staff to ensure quality, efficiency and compliance with policies, procedures and regulations.
- Provides guidance and monitoring for relevant staff, ensuring clarity over project plans and priorities and fostering effective team work.
- Develops best practices and tools for project execution and management.
- Defines project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals and strategic vision of management.
- Develops and delivers project plans, documentation, training, presentations and budget proposals to management and staff.
- Identifies and resolves issues and implements improvement plans to ensure project(s) stays on schedule and within budget.
- Builds, develops, and grows partnerships vital to the success of the project.
- Manages the operational and tactical aspects of multiple projects in a matrix environment.
- Oversees entire projects with focus on minimizing risk across multiple projects, monitors budgets, and scope to ensure successful execution of project(s) deliverables and completion of project(s).
- Identifies partnerships, opportunities and information to present to management to help achieve strategic goals of the company.
- Participates in strategic planning efforts to expand the portfolio of product line/service areas – in conjunction with leadership.
- Leads business development opportunities relevant to the product line/service areas.

- Project Management (PM) Certification preferred.
- Typically requires 8+ years of project management experience.
- Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
- Experience in multi-sector management and implementation.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation as well as strategic planning, capacity building and team management.
- Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English; fluent in host country language as appr opriate. Preferred Education and/or related experience with operating in insecure environments.
