Full-time

The Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy (CPP) team harnesses the power of philanthropy and partnerships to help PSI accomplish its goals.

We are looking for a Manager of Annual Giving to develop, manage and execute a comprehensive annual giving program, targeting online and mid-level donors. Since Annual Giving’s inception at PSI five year ago, we’ve more than tripled our revenue from individual donors. However, we’ve plateaued and are looking for someone who can leverage our assets to continue our growth.

Areas of Responsibility:

You will be responsible for co-creating a strategic individual fundraising plan and a one-year annual working plan, which outlines strategic initiatives and tactics covering email, online giving channels, acquisition efforts, online and offline stewardship, and other opportunities all focused on shaping a sustainable and growing tradition of annual support.

This position will manage a variety of internal and external partners to execute on the strategy and grow the annual giving program while supporting the greater development goals of PSI. Strong project management skills and accountability to deadlines are a must!

You will:

  • In partnership with an external vendor, determine annual giving goals—including revenue and retention--and build strategic and tactical plans for achieving these goals.
  • Lead online giving for entire organization and partner with external vendors on creative, content and implementation.
  • Manage work of digital donor marketing vendors. Knowledge of digital fundraising campaigns is a must.
  • Ensure deadlines are met and quality control standards are implemented consistently.
  • Lead strategies for acquiring new donors online – particularly those in archetype/market segments identified as having potential for the greatest growth.
  • Lead efforts to acquire, renew and upgrade donors in PSI’s Impact Makers monthly giving program.
  • Lead efforts to retain and grow PSI’s Innovator’s Circle mid-level giving program, conducting personal cultivation and stewardship, as appropriate.
  • Conduct donor research to identify major gift prospects.
  • Work effectively with team to build strategies for moving donors to higher giving levels.
  • Work closely with the Salesforce Administrator and Development Coordinator on reporting for data-driven decision-making and analysis
  • Develop and implement effective stewardship efforts to improve retention.
  • Partner with the External Relations & Communications department to identify content for campaigns and ensure consistency with PSI’s overall digital strategies.
  • Project manage ALL aspects of work outlined above.
  • Champion individual fundraising within PSI.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities with other members of the CPP team under the guidance of the Deputy Director, Individual & Major Gifts
  • Seek out and participate in professional development opportunities and utilize external resources related to annual giving and donor services to understand best practices and stay current with innovative techniques.
Educational Background:
You have an BA/BS degree.
Skills/Experience:

The ideal candidate should be comfortable:

  • Spotting untapped resources within the organization and building both internal and external relationships that could help us grow.
  • Optimizing current strategies to improve retention and upgrade current donors.
  • Ensuring the Annual Giving Manager role is a value-added investment for the organization.

The candidate we hire will embody PSI’s corporate values:

  • Measurement: You use hard evidence to make decisions and guide your work. You set clear goalposts in advance and explain clearly if you need to move them.
  • Pragmatism: You’ll strive to deliver the best possible result with the resources available. You won’t be paralyzed by a need to make things perfect.
  • Honesty: You own your mistakes and are open about your shortcomings – it’s the only way you’ll learn and improve.
  • Collaboration: You’ll quickly establish a mental map of whom you can rely on for what, on your team, at headquarters, and in our country offices – if you try to do it all yourself, you won’t succeed.
  • Trust: You accept limits to your sphere of control and give colleagues the benefit of the doubt
  • Commitment:  You are in it for the long-haul and want to grow with the organization, just like PSI serves its consumers and partners with host-country governments through thick and thin

The basics

  • Communication: You have superb writing, editing, analytical and project management skills. You have good computer skills with database management experience.

  • References will be required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.  N.B. PSI will not consider work visa sponsorship and relocation expenses will not be covered for this position.
  • The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Mission Driven: You have a passion for making the world a better place.
  • Personable: You like interacting with your colleagues and donors.
