Save the Children US seeks a Gender Equality & Social Inclusion (GESI) Specialist. The GESI Specialist will work with Associate Vice President, Gender Equality to support the roll out and implementation of Save the Children’s new Gender Equality Strategy, the coordination of the Gender Equality Hub, and support resource mobilization efforts from private and public donors.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Technical Assistance (30%)

  • Support AVP, Gender Equality in developing innovative approaches to gender mainstreaming, gender equality, and inclusive development.
  • Support country offices in gender equality mainstreaming.
  • Participate in relevant professional communities.
  • Support the design of meetings, trainings, and workshops

Coordination (35%)

  • Act as a member of the SCUS Gender Equality Hub
  • Support the operations of the Gender Equality Hub
  • Support cross-organizational gender equality initiatives

​Public and Private Resource Mobilization (35%)

  • Support the development and submission of quality proposals in response to identified opportunities.
  • Support resource mobilization efforts for private donors and assist in establishing and maintaining relationships with donors as needed
Educational Background: 
High school diploma, plus a minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience working on issues of gender equality and social inclusion
  • Experience coordinating communities of practice
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Enthusiastic and infectious approach to challenges

Highly Preferred:

  • Advanced Degree in Sociology, Anthropology or Gender Studies.
  • Experience in international development with a focus on gender equality and social inclusion.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and capacity building programs.
