The American Swiss Foundation (the ASF) is the leading private non-profit organization dedicated to connecting and engaging the leaders of the United States and Switzerland. Although the ASF is nearly 80 years old, the Foundation is very much an entrepreneurial organization, with a distinct start-up culture. We are looking for a full-time team member to fill the position of Director of Operations. This is a full-time position based in Washington D.C.-metro area with the opportunity to work remotely a few days a week. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Operations will be responsible for Foundation operations which includes:
- Foundation administration: insurances, audit and compliance reporting
- Memberships: corporate memberships, individual, grants and major gifts
- Alumni engagement: Engage Young Leader Conference alumni as members, speakers, event hosts
- Board: preparation for twice yearly meetings and engagement with Board members
- Programming pipeline
Essential Functional Responsibilities include:
- Ensure insurance policies are reviewed and renewed on annual basis
- Conduct annual policy review, ensuring all employees are in compliance
- Responsible for the oversight of annual external CPA-led audit and 990 filing, and compliance reporting
- Manage all subcontractors and vendors
- Lead the development and launch of new strategic initiatives in coordination with the Executive Director
- Manage current corporate membership database, membership renewals, invoicing, and payments
- Support implementation of new member acquisition strategy
- Manage onboarding of new corporate members
- Oversee and ensure success of key events with corporate sponsors
- Manage current member database, membership benefits, renewals, invoicing, and payments
- Support Executive Director and Board members in their efforts to secure major gifts and grants
- Support Executive Director and Board members with preparation and follow-up of meetings with potential new donors
- Implement strategies to cultivate key donors
- Review donor lists for all publications and other recognition efforts
- Oversee and attend events that may take place in the evening or on weekends
- Communicate effectively internally and externally
- Serve as an ambassador of the ASF’s mission
- Participate in the onboarding and training of new employees
QUALIFICATIONS
Your Background: 5+ years of professional experience in an operations, membership management and/or fundraising role, ideally in a rapidly evolving institution.
Attention to detail: must have accurate data entry skills and strong administrative support skills; must be organized and detail oriented;
Personal attributes and qualities: integrity, credibility, and a commitment to the American Swiss Foundation’s mission. Able to work effectively under pressure to meet goals and tight deadlines. Highly organized with great attention to detail. Able to multi-task in a fast-moving environment and manage shifting priorities. Self-directed, proactive, entrepreneurial, and a team player.
Donor/member management experience: knowledge of donor/member relations and management best practices, policies, and processes. Demonstrated working knowledge of the principles and best practices of major gift fundraising, including planning, implementing, and administering solicitations.
Key Software Proficiencies: Salesforce preferred; Microsoft Office proficiency required
Language: Native fluency in English

SALARY RANGE
$110,000 - $140,000
