The Role
MSI-US is seeking an experienced and talented development professional to support a comprehensive development strategy that attracts and engages individual donors in alignment with our organizational goals and plans. The Development Associate will play an important role in identifying and researching major donor prospects and will support all aspects of the Individual Giving program, including stewardship of lower-level donors to upgrade giving. The right candidate will have a proven track record of helping to build and manage a robust base of prospects and donors with skill and energy. - Support the Director of Individual Philanthropy in executing the major donor development work plan;
- Support all aspects of the Individual Giving program, including managing activities related to major donor identification and research, annual solicitations, gift acknowledgement and strategic stewardship of lower-level donors;
- Oversee systems and software to accurately track donors and prospects through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship;
- Utilize CRM database to maintain accurate records and reports of all donor interactions, individuals' programmatic interests, trends in giving, and type of support to solicit;
- Prepare written materials including visit strategies/briefings, correspondence, solicitation proposals, pledge documents and gift acknowledgements;
- Work in collaboration with the development team to align the Individual Giving program with broader fundraising efforts;
- Manage and grow giving from lower-level donors;
- Plan and implement, in partnership with other staff and volunteers, major donor cultivation and stewardship events.
Minimum two (2) years successful experience in individual fundraising – identifying high-net-worth individual prospects and participating in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors, preferably for a non-profit engaged in international issues.

- Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written;
- Ability to understand the needs and interests of donors to develop successful relationships and increase giving;
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks at a time;
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, commitment to results, attention to detail, and solutions-oriented;
- Proven experience using technology to advance the goals of a major donor program, like donor tracking systems and prospect research and wealth screening tools, along with a willingness and capacity to learn new systems;
- Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment across multiple programs and departments;
- Integrity, respect for confidentiality and passion for our mission;
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed, including possible overseas; and
- Bachelor's degree.
