Provide support to the CI team in execution of United Way NCA’s Community Commitment and other program initiatives. Provide direct assistance in the event planning, follow-up and execution of Project Homeless Connect and to the expansion of the education/health portfolio.
Areas of Responsibility:
Partnership Coordination
- Establish relations with assigned partner organizations through meetings with key agency staff.
- Serve as point of contact for nonprofit partners, as needed.
- Become familiar with all Education, Financial Stability and Health based programs and other Community Impact initiatives.
- Cross training to develop knowledge of all Community Impact product lines including Needs Assessment Planning, Community Outreach, etc.
- Attend relevant agency functions as the agency point person.
- Support the management of external committees related to CI initiatives
- Ensure agency participation in all relevant organization activities
- Conduct site visits to monitor and assess CI programs
Event Planning and Management
- Plan community events in collaboration with CI team, including but not limited to the annual Project Homeless Connect event
- Assist in designing event layout and logistics such as transportation, parking, and volunteer shifts
- Contract event supply companies
- Recruit volunteers in collaboration with United Way NCA Volunteer Engagement Manager
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of volunteer training materials
- Solicit event supply donations where possible and purchase remaining supplies
- Support outreach logistics, including partner outreach, community engagement, registration processes, correspondence, and post-event data entry
- Manage post-event follow up, including event debriefs and thank you notes
- Engage in learning opportunities related to CI priorities
Administrative and General Support
- Support grant and contract management across CI initiatives, including written agreements, invoices, reports, and payments
- Support cross-departmental communication efforts
- Identify opportunities to publicize CI initiatives and milestones both internally and externally, through social media, newsletters, and other channels in collaboration with United Way NCA’s Marketing and Communications team
- Manage centralized repository of CI project reports and outcomes
- Mapping the legislative landscape for all local, county, state and federal elected officials throughout the region.
- Support CI Team in identifying opportunities to testify at public hearings, sign onto coalition letters, and meet with local legislators
- Performs other duties as assigned which could include special projects or assignments for Vice President of Community Impact.
- Other administrative duties as needed
Educational Background:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree in public policy, public administration, or related field
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum four (4) years successful experience with nonprofit, human service organization
- Capable of consistently meeting deadlines, handling multiple priorities, and being organized
- Able to work with minimal supervision
- Must demonstrate initiative
- Positive attitude and ability to work as part of a team
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of applications
- Desire to create solutions for low and moderate income communities in our region
- United Way experience is a plus
- A strong interest in event planning; event planning experience is a plus
- Proficiency with Canva, Prezi and/or Piktochart infographic software is a plus
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer relation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
