To assist staff therapists with group and individual treatment activities and general environment of care maintenance, as appropriate.

Basic Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include any or all of the following:

A.   Assist staff therapists with leading program therapy activities at the Center and at Outreach locations.B.    Set up and/or clean up program activities as instructed.C.    Assist clients in preparation for or conclusion of therapeutic activities.D.   Carry out practice of functional tasks with clients following specific instruction by treating therapists.  Tasks may include transfers, walking, self-feeding, communicating, table-top activities, dressing, toileting, etc.E.    Provide encouragement and motivation to clients for desired therapeutic activities.F.     Assist therapy departments with maintenance of equipment, ie, cleaning/sorting of toys, distributing batteries for toys, organizing equipment and tools for therapy, etc.G.   Assist therapy departments in designated projects as needed.H.   Assist with Activities of Daily Living for both male and female clients as                           necessary and appropriate.I.       Provide services consistent with established Easter Seals DFV Mission, Values, and Philosophy.J.      Maintain client confidentiality and respect the rights and dignity of all individuals.K.   Comply with Easter Seals DFV Code of Ethics and all prevailing Federal, State and local laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  2. Volunteer and/or work experience with persons with disabilities preferred.
  3. Therapy Aide must exhibit the following interpersonal qualities:

A. Emotional maturity when working with staff and clients.B. Respect for children and adults.C. Understanding, patience, and compassion.D. Ability to motivate young children and teenagers to work hard and have fun.E. Good personal hygiene.F. Physical and mental health that do not interfere with the job description.G. Sensitivity to clients’ socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities.
