The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Healthcare Quailty Measures Manager based out of our National Center office! This position can be remote, but must be located near a major airport. This individual will be responsible for providing administrative, analytic and informatics support for development, specification, maintenance, harmonization, and endorsement of measures used in AHA's suite of quality programs: including Get With The Guidelines: Stroke, Heart Failure, Atrial Fibrillation, Resuscitation and Coronary Artery Disease; ambulatory quality initiatives and certification programs. Responsible for implementing the transition to electronic data collection by providing informatics/coding expertise for development of electronic measure specifications. Responsible for developing and maintaining standardized documentation for program measures.
- In collaboration with volunteers and other AHA measures and Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) staff, operationalizes quality concepts and evidence in detailed measure specifications for implementation in AHA quality programs. Analyzes existing program measures to identify potentially unnecessary differences among similar data elements or measures
- Provides informatics/coding expertise to support development of electronic measure specifications
- Monitors relevant national programs such as the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS): Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Meaningful Use, Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (HIQR); as well as The Joint Commission; Million Hearts; etc. for changes that may impact AHA measures or programs
- Creates and maintains standardized documentation for measures used in AHA quality programs. Monitors and maintains documentation of AHA/ASA registry programs and measures information in national programs, databases and clearinghouses
- Provides data and documentation for AHA/ASA measures identified for application submission to National Quality Forum (NQF) for endorsement
- Coordinates with other AHA staff to communicate changes in national programs and impact to volunteer workgroups and other AHA staff
- At least five (5) years of relevant experience
- Experience in Health IT or Healthcare Quality
- Healthcare technology related skills such as e-medical records, medical coding or related information
- Detail oriented with data analysis experience
- Ability to write and orally present information
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to travel 20% local and overnight stay
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced certification or degree in Health Informatics, Medical Coding or related Health Information Management including work with one or more standard nomenclatures, including SNOMED, ICD, CPT, LOINC and/or RxNorm
- Experience with performance measure development, testing, implementation and/or endorsement
- Familiarity and experience developing electronic clinical quality measure specifications and use of the Measure Authoring Tool
- Familiarity with the National Quality Forum measure submission and endorsement process
- Experience working with committees and volunteers
