Healthcare Data Analyst (Stroke)

The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Healthcare Data Analyst – Stroke based out of our National Center office. This position can be remote but must live near a major airport. You will be responsible for developing enhancements and maintaining the Patient Management Tool/AHA Quality Improvement (QI) Clinical decision support tools for the Get With the Guidelines (GWTG) suite of Quality Improvement programs. Responsible for implementing and supporting GWTG solutions for Health Systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR) vendors, EPCR Vendors, and Research partners. Also, responsible for assisting with the implementation of data solutions for the migration of GWTG to an e-platform.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support integration of the most up to date science within available technological tools and resources. Work with the organization’ s volunteer committees to ensure appropriate integration of the Guidelines into technology and tool specifications and modifications while confirming that updates are appropriate for the marketplace
  • Schedule, plan and complete GWTG customized programs and research projects as assigned
  • Participate in vendor contract negotiations and master agreement provisions. Establish and monitor assigned project budgets including vendor service level agreements and deliverables
  • Act as project lead for assigned e-platform GWTG project and pilots. Participate on teams for application of technology overlap of Get With The Guidelines projects
  • Develop and deliver staff and customer webinars related to assigned projects. Provide insight and guidance on technology updates and enhancements. Provide ongoing QI staff support and training as program technology subject matter expert
  • Collaborate with business team partners in development of AHA strategic plans and Quality team business plans as it relates to program technology applications
  • Build on existing and new relationships with external audiences, as appropriate, including but not limited to technology vendors, healthcare professionals, and volunteers
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal stakeholder groups
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three (3) years of experience working in healthcare, hospital quality improvement, or related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in health technology product management
  • Two (2) years of experience in management of large data sets, measure development and applications
  • Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular clinical knowledge
  • Ability to effectively work with physician experts and scientific thought leaders
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate clinical information, evaluate data, present findings, and comprehend new information with exceptional analytic capacity
  • Knowledge of voluntary health organizations and experience in group process with the ability to resolve conflicts and gain consensus through mediation and collaboration
  • Excellent presentation and negotiating skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate vendor contracts and manage vendor deliverables
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex relationships with external partners and allied organizations
  • Two (2) years of experience in product life-cycle management, particularly with product maintenance and new product development
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects
