We are seeking a Director of Mid-Level Giving to be an integral part of a new Mid-level giving team at March of Dimes. The team will be responsible for communications, solicitations and stewardship strategies, for an identified cohort of high potential current donors as well as future donors who have the potential to grow in their giving. The position works collaboratively with national, regional, and market leadership to ensure that the March of Dimes mission and fundraising objectives are met.

The position reports to the Senior Director, Mid-Level Giving.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • In tandem with the Senior Director of Mid-Level Giving, build, strategize, plan and execute the mid-level giving program 
  • Manage a tiered portfolio of approximately 700 mid-level donors who are giving $1,000-$9,999 on an annual cumulative basis, and have potential to increase their giving. 
  • Coordinate all communication, solicitation and stewardship of portfolio managed donors (locally and nationally)
  • Work in collaboration with markets and regional directors of philanthropy to strategically align program goals with the emerging major donor pipeline, with a focus on moving donors with capacity and inclination to make major gifts to a gift officer portfolio
  • Build donor-centric best practices for mid-level donors, with a focus on retention based philanthropy 
  • Work with Planned Giving to develop and execute lead generation strategies
  • Collaborate with market, direct response and digital colleagues to move donors between programs and to ensure message continuity through direct mail and online efforts 
  • Collaborating with the stewardship team to develop and implement an annual donor stewardship plan 
  • Track and document the cultivation and solicitation activities of mid-level giving prospects and donors in CRM
  • Respond to mid-level donor requests for information and demonstrate exemplary customer service 
  • Gain a thorough understanding of the Foundation – its values, history, culture, traditions, communities, programs, personalities, constituencies and governance structure; understand its base of financial support and the short and long-term funding requirements of all segments of the organization.
  • Handle other duties as assigned
Educational Background: 
Four year college degree or equivalent experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of directly related work experience, including substantial time in the realm of individual giving, mid-level giving or direct marketing.
  • Strong project management skills and proven ability to set priorities, meet deadlines with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated success in personal cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of mid-level gifts
  • Experience managing a portfolio of donors, including significant donor interactions
  • Experience managing and being accountable for budgets, fundraising targets and donor relationships
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and all MS Office products.
  • Positive attitude required.
  • Self-starter who is results oriented.
  • Team player with ability to work collaboratively and build effective working relationships with colleagues and volunteers.
  • Superior oral, written, and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate the need for and benefits of supporting the March of Dimes.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
