We are looking to fill a newly created Development Consultant – Social Events opening to work with our Social Events (Gala and Go Red for Women) staff in the Eastern States Region (Maine to Virginia). The person selected to fill this role will provide development consulting to a portfolio of events with breakout fundraising potential through overall strategy development, gap assessments, coaching calls and field travel. This individual will also manage 2-3 key ‘special projects’ that focus in on areas of opportunity, innovative approaches and/or evolving new ideas.

  • focusing on developing key socials staff and overall strategies as identified by national trends and the Affiliate’s Sr Leadership Team;
  • working collaboratively with other consultants to drive national and affiliate specific strategies for Core Special Events;
  • analyzing data for trends and recommendations to ensure development events meet goals;
  • modeling, coaching and troubleshooting best practice execution for core special events;
  • identifying priority markets and working in conjunction with National and other consultant staff to learn effective strategies and consulting methods;
  • looking for trends in the data and providing staff and leadership strategy coaching to prevent negative trending;
  • driving and fostering exponential growth in Individual Giving strategies and revenue streams, Company Recruitment/Fundraising and strategic alliances/significant corporate sponsorship development;
  • serve as a Development training leader for field staff at all levels of the development team;
  • supports our strategic plan priorities with event Chair recruitment and volunteer engagement;
  • setting expectations and collaborating in the field to produce top ranking Affiliate-level campaign results.

This position will report to the Affiliate Field Campaign SVP and can be based in any office located in the Eastern States region.

Educational Background: 
A bachelor’s degree or some college coursework combined with related experience is preferred;
Skills/Experience:

  • five plus years of experience in fundraising, outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity;
  • success and knowledge in fundraising or successful outside sales that involves building and maintaining sales relationships;
  • comfortable working with executives at the VP, SVP and EVP level;
  • ability to lead a team but also to work independently;
  • ability to coach, mentor, evaluate and monitor work performed by field event staff;
  • skills in written and oral communication at all organizational levels including large and small group presentations, group facilitation and trainings;
  • ability to plan and conduct meetings;
  • knowledge of group dynamics and group process.
  • experience in event planning, organizing, consultation and volunteer management preferred;
  • ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports;
  • ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, run reports and maintain accurate data;
  • ability to travel throughout the region (up to 35%) which may include some nights and weekends as needed;
  • willingness to work outside of standard hours as needed.
