The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a Development Specialist in our SouthWest Affiliate office in Tulsa, OK . Seeking a proven, high energy, achievement oriented individual to help run our databases for the social events, supporting the Executive Director and raising dollars through Circle of Red and Sweetheart and Maverick programs.
The Development Specialist will play a key role in growing this revenue stream with a fundraising goal of $150K.
Daily activities include securing and developing individual sponsorships, managing, motivating, and working with volunteers, planning and assisting with the execution of fundraising events, and collaborating with AHA staff. Responsibilities also includes assisting in the management of both social event budgets.
- Assists senior staff in working with volunteer leadership and committees maintaining accurate volunteer records, cultivating new volunteers
- Assists in the fundraising development process by conducting exploratory meetings, sales calls, and creating strategies to develop current and new donors
- Coordinates event calendars, meetings, and assists with the logistics of fundraising events.
- Works with supervisor to establish objectives, tasks, and goals.
- Works with supervisor regarding communication strategies to relate to volunteers the desired development goals.
- May assign and/or supervise the work of others.
- Performs tasks as assigned.
- Excellent written business communications and skill with computer applications.
- Must have at least basic knowledge and skill with Microsoft Office used for word processing, email, presentations, and spreadsheets.
- Strong written and oral business communication skills.
- Skill using standard computer software programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, as evidenced by formal course work, training, or previous work experience (Will be tested).
- Ability to learn new computer programs as needed to fulfill job requirements.
- Proficient with basic math skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, required Knowledge of Greater Giving or similar donor database programs
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of meeting management
- Excellent verbal and written business communications skills
- Ability to anticipate and satisfy customer needs through excellent service
- Work independently and take initiative to creatively and effectively solve problems
- Meet and interact with all levels of AHA staff and volunteers
- Ability to work evenings/weekends and travel when necessary
