Business Development Director

The American Heart Association has an exciting opportunity for a Development (Fundraising) Director, Heart Walk. As the Director, you are part of a staff and volunteer team responsible for the overall planning, management and implementation of the Greater Phoenix Heart Walk campaign with a net revenue goal of $2.4 million.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, accelerates and grows corporate team participation through ongoing communication and effective account management
  • Develops and executes year-round pipeline for new business development
  • Maintains current and prospects and secures new corporate sponsorship
  • Applies and leverages established Best Practices, benchmarks and timelines
  • Owns the details of accounts and pipeline to ensure optimal account management, communication and planning. Includes fully utilizing CRM systems.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ability to thrive in a results-driven, partner-focused environment that depends on personal and team accountability
  • 2+ years successful fundraising, outside sales or marketing experience
  • Ability to accomplish results through strong volunteer recruitment, training and management
  • Highly effective organizational, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter able to work well in a team driven environment
  • Knowledge of AHA’s mission and program
  • Ability and willingness to travel within local area and to work evenings and weekends on occasion. (10-15 face to face meetings weekly)

Preferred skills we are looking for:

  • Experience with the American Heart Association or a similar nonprofit organization
  • Identifying and closing high level cash sponsorship
  • Experience in B2B sales
